Re: Week 13: Le Gossier, Guadeloupe (Entry List)

Paire's mind isn't there but his tennis is very good. Great backhand, big first serve, great dropshot, awesome athlete. The problem is he doesn't really know how to play winning tennis from a strategical standpoint and his consistency is poor, he's mentally fragile and he's extremely on edge; any moment he can explode. He's a waste of talent.

I get angry when my favorites lose to players they shouldn't when in positions to do damage and help their rankings.

Almagro on quick HC is average, so that's not a huge feather in Sugita's cap that he nearly won that match with abysmal serve statistics. Paire is a better player than Sugita and should not lose to someone of that caliber. He failed and it is what is is.

Rochus def. Ouanna 7-6(7) 7-5

Very competitive match, but Olli was the one who had the chances throughout, really. Jo hit a lot of his 17 aces in critical moments but it wasn't enough. Very good win for Olli, and he immediately becomes the co-favorite with Becker to win the title here.

Re: Week 13: Le Gossier, Guadeloupe (Entry List)

I fully expect Benji to take out ERV today. If it was in somewhere like St. Remy you might favour ERV but this is Guadeloupe and it's not the same comfortable surroundings for ERV, who has disappointed since Marseille really. ERV's game is better suited to faster courts indoors. Becker is more versatile even though he's also quite strong indoors. May go to 3 sets.

I sincerely hope Goffin gets rid of Sugita today, but he will have to serve much better than he did against Alex Ward.

I have to admit, having watched that, Sugita is very talented.

Trying to shove Sugita down my throat or convince me to like him isn't going to do anything.

Re: Week 13: Le Gossier, Guadeloupe (Entry List)

Sugita is alright to average. I never said he sucked, I said he was average, which is what he is. And I said Paire is a better player than him; also a true statement.

Goffin is also better than Sugita. One match vs a mediocre fast-HC player is not indicative of someone's normal level. So hopefully the more talented player with a future in this sport wins.

Re: Week 13: Le Gossier, Guadeloupe (Entry List)

ERV can beat Benni if he serves well. I agree his game is better suited on faster courts, but the things he does well can cause Becker problems. With that being said, if Benni returns well, he definitely wins because of his own serving and his superiority from the baseline overall.

ERV will have to be a little more aggressive than usual to win. He'll need to use the net to shorten points and definitely avoid forehand rallies.

Re: Week 13: Le Gossier, Guadeloupe (Entry List)

ERV has a higher percentage of service points won, but Benni's first serve really helps him out. Seems like that's the big difference really in the match.

the biggest difference so far seems to be that benji is a choking clown. should be over.
