Bellucci will ruin the tournament.

Re: Challenger Tour Finals - São Paulo on Harmony Club

Surely a better option would be to award the WC to the Brazilian who amassed the most Challenger points over the year, rather than Bellucci?

Re: Challenger Tour Finals - São Paulo on Harmony Club

Last year there was a thread on MTF "can Bellucci win RG" and now he will play a challenger final... the mighty has fallen! I also think the WC should be given to the highest ranked Brazilian in the challenger ranking, or at least to some journeyman who balances between challengers and ATP (so he doesn't have as many chall. points as he could) like Mello!

The ATP posted the race to the Challenger Tour Finals.
The best 10 tournaments count:

Re: Challenger Tour Finals - São Paulo on Harmony Club

I like the concept and i also think it's a great idea but i think it should've been the first 8 players with best results in challenger tour not 7 + 1 WC
Bellucci is not a challenger level player anymore so i don't know why he is getting a WC
If Bellucci plays, many of player probably won't have a chance

This is a stupid decision

This would be a good decision if they really want to give WC to someone

Re: Challenger Tour Finals - São Paulo on Harmony Club

After Stebe's two titles in Asia he should make a huge jump into the top 10 of that list. Another week like that in Ningbo and he will most likely secure his spot in the top 7

Does anybody know how many ranking points the winner will be awarded? Will they have a system similar to the World Tour Finals?

Btw, I guess Rosol and especially Machado and Prodon are not really happy that the finals will be played on indoor hardcourt :P

Re: Challenger Tour Finals - São Paulo on Harmony Club

That´s a great idea. I´m also interested in points system on this tournament. Klizan is leading the race now, he needs probably one more good challenger to secure the spot in Brazil. But he is also not very comfortable on indoor hardcourts, although there are also worse players than him in this...

Re: Challenger Tour Finals - São Paulo on Harmony Club

Hmm, so that means some players refused to participate in this event? Prodon, Rosol, Istomin, Ungur and Robert were all ranked higher than Reynolds and Stebe.

But I won't complain. On the one hand I'm happy that Stebe got in as the third German player And on the other hand Sela, Reynolds and Stebe are better hardcourt players than Prodon, Rosol or Ungur. So it's an improvement for the quality of the field.

Now the only pure clay courter left is Rui Machado (who won a set against Federer in Davis Cup on indoor hardcourt!). Klizan also gained almost all of his points on clay court, but he did win an indoor hard challenger last year in Bratislava. I also don't think Thomaz Belluci is that comforable on indoor hardcourt, so I don't really see him as the favourite here. This is going to be interesting! I hope they'll provide a good live broadcast...

Re: Challenger Tour Finals - São Paulo on Harmony Club

Bellucci lost to Sela at USO, so I think he's not the big favorite on hardcourt.

Has anybody yet found any information about how many ranking points will be awarded?

Sela didn't play 10, too. Only 10 count. If you have less it doesn't matter.

@Zack On their website you can read it in Portoguese. But I think it's understandable. http://www.challengerfinals.com.br/informacoes.asp

Bellucci is the only south american one. Do you think the brasilian crowd will come for those players ? Some have an interesting level indoors like Beck but I have some doubts about the interest of that competition especially in Brasil indoor
