Does the extra game he won in that set change anything? So is 6-1 the minimum score he has to win by still?

Re: Challenger Tour Finals - São Paulo on Ibirapuera Gymnasium

Well, Stebe wins the 1st set 7-5.

No offense to Machado, but how could Sela lose 2 and 2 to this guy yesterday? He has a good game of course, but still on HC you should be able to win more than 4 games against him. Even Bachinger was more competitive (well he led by a set and a break) and he was quite bad in the other two matches.

I can definitely see Machado getting the games on the board and then letting it go.

6-2 would also be enough I think (if I calculated right).

Edit: Forget it, I calculated wrong.

Well it doesn't really make a huge difference. Serving first you win 6-1 if you get 2 breaks unless you break to win the set.

Wait, I actually got it right now, 6-2 would be enough for Stebe. I could explain it if you want me to do so.

No, it's fine, I trust you

I think it's a matter of how Cedrik wins now, not if.

Ok

I still post a small explanation for the doubters:

Stebe's percentage of won games: 52,1 %
Machado's: 51,1%

That was a gutsy forehand. If he had got broken there, I think that would really have been the end of his chances.

Re: Challenger Tour Finals - São Paulo on Ibirapuera Gymnasium

Great return game to break

4-0 it is, you almost got it Cedrik! Please do it this time, you made it this difficult yourself so far (with the SPs against Sela in the 2nd set or the missed MPs against Bachinger in the next-to-last game)!

Btw where are these Machado fans who were praising him yesterday and now he's going out despite winning two matches (probably).
