They have different origin and traditions. In some cases the theology differs a bit, too. However, all christian churches agree on who Jesus Christ is and what his purpose was. That's why they are still part of the same religion.

I'm a protestant btw (but normally I just say christian). It's not really about labels though, it's about what's in your heart. (Cheezy but true.)

Why would an atheist harass you though if you already share his beliefs? I have been insulted and harassed countless times by atheists. Not by someone knocking on my door, but in school and in the workplace... simply because I call myself christian. Apparently that makes me, according to them, dumb and/or brainwashed. Yet, I am decidedly not a stupid person and I reflect on where my fundamental beliefs come from and if they are reliable pretty much every day. I wonder if the atheists do the same.

I am not religious actually, although I wouldn't call myself atheïst. I just don't think about religion and spiritual issues, It's actually just not an item in my life.

But I am surprised people can get so passionate about it, I mean: how can you be so convinced about a religion? Just the fact that there are different religions must mean some are bound to be 'wrong'? Although I do get It's more about principles.

I honestly don't believe that any religion is wrong.

Federer will win another grand slam.
Cilic is not a one slam wonder.

Re: Just curious...what religion are you?

i really dont get what is the big deal

i believe in god, some ppl believe in muhamad, others in jesus atc atc atc.
no one needs to be offended if someone doesnt believe in what he believes and ppl have a right to say they think its all a big bunch of nothing, ppl should stop being so Sensitive and stressed on religious matters.

just remember all the religious in the world aim to one thing, for us to be better ppl.
we just take different actions or ways for that.

Re: Just curious...what religion are you?

Religion was invented as a way to answer questions that humans could not answer themselves.

As our knowledge grows, religious influence wanes. It is now well understood that no deity will alter the weather for you, no matter your sincerity of belief or personal sacrifice. Most also accept that no deity will intervene during their lifetime - under any circumstances. What is occasionally described as "Miracles" happen equally often, proportionally speaking, to non-believers as to believers.

What is left is what happens after death. This remains unknown in as far as it has never been described accurately. Nor will it ever be. So many look for answers in religions. Governments find an advantage in having a uniform population, that is why the insecure nations of this world make it very difficult to have another than the majority one.

My religion? I believe life ends at death. No afterlife. Eternal existence must be mind-numbingly dull, if not the first billion years then pretty soon after.... Or if you can't feel boredom surely you can't feel anything else either, so what would be the point? Consequently, no religion would do anything for me and I have none.

Just because something does not hold value for you doesn't mean it's ok to treat it disrespectfully. I personally don't see the Bible as something holy, but I do get angry when I hear people speak of it disrespectfully.

And to answer the question, I am Hindu.
Why would you bring up a 2 year old comment? I'm correct here. The Bible/Quran/whatever you call it in each religion is a fictional story book. There is no higher being up in the sky that talks to you through angels. He doesn't punish the wicked (Hitler, Pol Pot, Mugabe weren't punished, why is that?) etc. There was nobody who could part seas. The Earth is obviously not 6000 years old. There was never a flood that covered the entire planet etc.

Fictional story book, as I said.

Yes and no. Often some of the differences are laughingly irrelevant, even though the church will claim they are paramount.

“There’s so many athletes, tennis players around the world,” he continued, trying to put his life into some kind of perspective, “they want to be the best in what they do. They want to succeed. Many of them, they don’t succeed in the end. I’m fortunate to have this opportunity and succeed.”
