The duel was to commemorate the tenth anniversary of Guga's title at the Masters Cup in Lisbon (Portugal) in 2000, a tournament that brought together the top eight this year, and still placed first as the number one in the world (say December 4 ). At the time, Agassi broke Kuerten in exactly the decision.

The information was given to the advisor Tennis News Andre Agassi, Tami Kinney by phone: "It is not yet confirmed, but Agassi in Brazil may be between the 9th and December 12th. It a game at first view as Guga in Rio January to honor him, "said Kinney.

Sought by Tennis News, the adviser Guga, Clarissa Machado, confirmed its intention to make the display and said the negotiations are ongoing, but is still able to be confirmed in the coming months: "There is the intention and yes Guga has begun talk to Agassi for the game, but there is still nothing hit on the right date and place in December - will be in Rio de Janeiro, Florianopolis or another city - and there is still uncertainty on the format of the event. "

Guga won three Grand Slam titles, all of Roland Garros in 1997, 2000 and 2001 and stayed 43 weeks on top of the ATP. Agassi won eight Grand Slams and logged 101 weeks in the lead.

Kuerten and Agassi had 11 duels in the professional circuit. For Brazil the best memory was that of the final victory in the Portuguese capital. On occasion Guga reached the vice leadership of ranking competing with the tip and Marat Safin lost the first match for Agassi lot of pain in the hip and thus needing to win all their games to snatch the title and tip. He achieved the feat names like beating Yevgeny Kafelnikov, Magnus Norman, Pete Sampras (semi) Agassi and one of his greatest performances of all time with sound 6 / 4 6 / 4 6 / 4.

The Santa Catarina has won half of the U.S. Masters tournament in Miami in 2000 where he lost an epic final against Pete Sampras and moved on in two other games in 1997. Agassi, in turn, had his best memories with Guga Masters Cup 1999 in Hannover (Germany) and in the quarterfinals of Wimbledon in the same season.

Kuerten withdrew from the court in May 2008 and at Roland Garros two years before Agassi at the U.S. Open in two exciting goodbyes. The Brazilian part of August at the end of the week where Guga Kuerten will play an exhibition against Yevgeny Kafelnikov.

Agassi is another great ex-player that can appear in Brazil in recent years. In 2008, Pete Sampras was here and was champion of the veterans of the ATP circuit in Sao Paulo by defeating Fernando Meligeni in one of the games. Last year, the controversial John McEnroe won the stage to the other seniors circuit in Rio de Janeiro, the Champions Series, which was in March this year involving Marat Safin also in the capital carioca.

Blog - Guga x Agassi no Brasil. Imperdível! Quem não se emociona com este confronto ? - Confira alguns números do confronto! -

Guga e Agassi fizeram 11 duelos no circuito profissional.
