Re: NEW YORK NEW YORK, us open ¡vamos Chico!

Wow!! That must have been an amazing match, I wish I could have seen it. I can't believe he fought back from 2 sets down against Ferru, one of the toughest fighters on the tour! I must catch the highlights. Lovely pic of Fer there too, I can't believe people think he should cut his hair, I think it looks great!

Well done Fer!!

Re: NEW YORK NEW YORK, us open ¡vamos Chico!

Q. Did you and David Ferrer talk in the locker room after the match at all?

Quote:
FERNANDO VERDASCO: Well, we just saw each other for a few seconds, and we just, you know, normal. He told me, well done. I told him, like, I’m really sorry. Then I told him, like, you know, that we need to keep fighting to be both in the Masters Cup. We have a great relationship. Of course when you lose a match like this today for him if I lost this match, for sure I’d be so upset and pissed in the — it’s true — in the locker room. But at the end, you know, we are good friends, and I want him the best, no? I want him to be in the Masters Cup. And of course I hope that he will do it.
Kinda sad

Sad, yes. But I like how supportive Fer is of Ferru. They seem like great friends. And I remember not too long ago when it was the other way around, Fer lost to Ferru. These things happen. The most important thing is to stay friends, not let it get to you and keep on fighting. I think both Fer and Ferru understand that.

I want Ferru to do well too, and I believe he will. He's already cracked the top 10 in rankings, and it is well deserved imo. He's had a great couple of months, despite the loss in USO.

Do your best Fer! Play your best - and you can win!

I think for me the most talented of all times was (Marcelo) Rios. Marat Safin, 2004

Marcelo has an enormous talent. Gaudio, RG champion 2004

"Rios ... he has a beautiful game, great forehand and great touch," Federer, World number 1

Guillermo Coria: "Ríos and Vilas are my two idols"

Fucking hell! Starts off well and then just completely falls apart for no reason. That stupid missed smash in the last game sums up everything.

Nando seriously needs help. No excuses, none at all. He was up a break in the first, and he just game up, threw in two DFs and got broken. He needs sports psychology or help of some sort.

Nando *sigh*

Well, I really hope he can take some positives from his run here. He defended his points and (depending on Youzhny's results) his #8 ranking, moves back up to #8 in the race and has regained some of the form he lost since Roland Garros. His next tournament is Beijing, I think, so hopefully he takes some time to rest and regroup and work on his form and fitness. I hope we don't get paparazzi pictures of him partying with Kim Kardashian or anything

of course he does.... is this just about losing the break he had or the entire match?

it's funny to see that when he wins everyone here is all over him (well done, super, fantastic, bla bla) and then he loses to the no.1 player in the world, whom he has NEVER beaten (in official atp/itf matches), he's dead tired from the previous match, etc etc and we blame it on his mind.

You did notice it was Rafa Nadal on the other side of the net I hope? Instead of making Fer look like a headcase, try to see the positive side in this. He could have lost in round one, he didnt, he defended his points...he won an epic match coming back from 2 sets down... So all in all, he did quite good here!

Im proud of him. It was good to see him play. And yes I would have loved it if he had beaten Rafa....but with Rafa being as he is....let's be fair, who's going to beat him? So no shame in this loss.

But we're all entitled to our own opinion

well done Fer, go home and recharge and good luck for the Asian tour

Re: NEW YORK NEW YORK, us open ¡vamos Chico!

Of course he did great. Reaching QF second year in a row is amazing, considering he should've really lost in R1.

But what I saw against Rafa just put a damper on everything. Up a break, at 4-3 what does he do? Double fault twice in a row. and at 5-6, he has his worst service game ever. Sends an overhead into the stands.

Nadal was far from amazing. In the first set he was basically pushing the ball. Now Fer has the honour of being the first top 10 player Nadal had ever defeated at the US Open.
