Re: Igor's Challengers

Good to see Igor playing the challengers. Needs to get some wins and get his confidence up, way too good to be ranked outside the top 100. Keep going

Re: Igor's Challengers

Won again today, 6-4 6-7 6-3, a bit closer than it needed to be (wasted 4 match points in TB) but still, he won!

Re: Igor's Challengers

Hey everybody! Long time no see. How is everyone?

Igor playing challengers is smart. First of all, he needs to stick on clay because that's probably his only chances of winning. But also because he needs the points. If he wins this event he'll be back in the top 100.

He's played two good matches this week, good luck tomorrow v Kamke! Could be a tough one, he'll need to be on his A game.

Re: Igor's Challengers

igor is into the semi's

6-7, 6-3, 6-3 over tobias kamke

it took him 4 match points after being 40-15 up when serving for the match in the 3rd set and tobias had 3 chances to break but igor held them off

wouldnt be igor if he didnt struggle to close it out would it?

Re: Igor's Challengers

Two more to go, Igor!

Kamke is a good player, and when Igor was down a break and set point(s) in the first set I thought it might be over quickly. But Igor came storming back and had a 4-1 lead in the tiebreak, which he unfortunately blew But he played really well in the last two sets, and really overall it was a good match, he was aggressive and forceful, the way he needs to play. I had a sinking feeling he might choke the match away in that third set but he got it done after 4 match points.

A win is a win, unfortunately when you are as low on confidence as Igor has been, his weak mentality becomes even more of a problem. Against established ATP players he won't get away with that, but at least he got another win in the bag

Now he's up to #102 and if he wins his SF he'll be back in the top 100 next week. He's playing Frenchman Olivier Patience, good luck Igor!
