In L'Equipe today, journalists love his name, it's perfect for all kinds of puns in French ("hors Paire", etc.)
Llodra said in Bordeaux that Benoît reminds him of himself when he was young, a bit crazy, tennis needs people like him.
His former FFT coach Prigent was watching him yesterday during his match against Koubek. His comment at the end of the match: "He must be the only player on the tour whose attacking shot is the dropshot".
Then Benoît talks again about his chequered past and the stories with the FFT, he admits he used to be over the top, like when he broke all his racquets because he didn't feel like playing a tournament (it's an old story, they were already mentioning it in the articles of last year about the RG qualies).
Now he's found a new coach, Zimbler, and they work a lot on the mental side. Not get all worked up, stay focused. And it's been working since the beginning of the year.
Thank you. Yeah, he is definitely pretty calm now in the handful of matches i've seen him in this year. I thought he was possibly even too
laid back, but now I see that it must be a conscious effort to control his temper.
As for the dropshots, last week in the Delgado match he used them perfectly; he used them a lot but at the right times and he was still crushing as many backhand drives as possible. This is compared to in the Llodra match where he hit about three drive backhands in the entire match because he was too busy dropshotting the entire time, which is a shame because his backhand really is such a great shot.
