The Guns of August
by Barbara Tuchman - this is a re-read of one of my favorite books. I wish that more authors would write about WWI- but sheesh, it has been slim pickings. If anyone has any good recommendations for books about WWI, please post them.
I recomend Panos Karnezis's The Maze
. It's actually set in the Greco-Turkish war just after WWI. If you're interested in the Balkan action in WWI, this would be good for ya.
(I just realized, I've recommended this twice, now)
I think there will be a spike in interest in WWI, as the last few veterans die, and as the 100th aniversary approaches.
There are currently 46 verified WWI veterans still alive.
