Right along that line, your upper, I dunno, palette or jaw or whatever is like connected and apparently, it's very easy to like disconnect it My doctors are going to like seperate my mouth, jaw, whatever along that line and insert something, dunno what, to expand my upper jaw (?) a little.
Ok -- They are going to widen your jaw, right? I thought they were going to make your upper jaw longer... but this makes more sense.

And to do this you will be under full anesthetic?

See, that's major surgery.

Non major surgery is when they don't put you out completely.

I've had laproscopic surgery where I got out the same day although I was completely under. I sort of wish I had stayed in because I had a reaction to the demerol and puked the entire night. But don't worry about this happening to you. There's hardly ever a reaction to pain meds the first time you get them. I've just had so many and now I get nausea just thinking about pain meds..... Hey..... there's an idea! everytime I think about eating, I could just think about demerol.

I usually do that too. Guess what my calming thing is? But I'm afraid that's not going to work this time I was fine until about two days ago but now that they day is getting close and closer, I'm become more and more of a wreck

Oh my god, I hate airlines! Like you all figured out all ready that if they couldn't fix it in NINE hours that it was unfit to fly!

I think the problem is that airlines are so strapped, they can't just have extra airplanes sitting around on standby for mechanical problems. That would seem to be the logical way to handle these things.

Will pass some time....

I just can't believe these people they actually have the nerve to get up and take our names so that they can offer us "compensatory vouchers" for future travel with Air New Zealand.

I don't think anybody here will ever choose to travel with them ever again.

Nope. 1 hour and 40 minutes.

At least you will be able to get some of it online, Jessica.

Yeah, they're widening my jaw. Just a little bit though. My sister has ( actually had) the same problem that I do but our dentist caught her problem MUCH earlier than mine ( like 6 years ) so she just had some kind of device put into her mouth for a couple of months and that fixed the problem. So it wouldn't of been a major problem had my dentist noticed my problem earlier. And yes, I am pretty bitter/upset about that

I don't care if I throw up or whatever because of the aneasthetic, as long as it doesn't kill me

Yeah - I'm trying to be rational about it and beleive the crap about the airline doing all they can.... it's just getting a bit difficult all this time later.

There's a BA flight leaving for Heathrow in an hour. I wonder if there's any places going spare. I am very tempted to just give up and go home...

Nah don't give up now Jessica. I know the wait is horrible but you'll be glad to be in New Zealand whenever you get there. Just think about the sun And of course about your relatives, boyfriend, friends etc... that you'll be able to see!

I don't blame you. I'm imagining you're feeling that the fates aren't really wanting you to go to NZ.

But, I would have thought that planes going from london to NZ would go eastwards rather than westwards.......

I know somebody who is working in Antartica. He goes down there for the summer and then they drop him off in Wellington when it's over. He bummed around NZ for several months. He liked it quite a bit.
