I don't even watch TV anymore, so I'm with ya on this one!

I need some advice here.

Hubby is thinking driving back to Canada this summer. It's a longgggggg drive (about 30 hours driving time at least) He wants to drive because he wants to take our dog with us. I think it will be very stressful for everybody and the dog but I also anticipate I have a BIG fight with this. Any suggestions?
I actually like long drives sometimes. My husband and I have had to drive from West Texas to Chicago (three day trip), San Diego to Chicago (three days if your lucky) as well as from Chicago to Austin (two day trip). We have done both with and without dog. On times when the dog needed to go with us to our destination (as opposed to boarding him), my husband refused to fly our dog because flying can be very, very tramatic for the pooches.

We had fun, stopped in some neat towns to spend the night, made sure that there were hotels that would accept dogs- and also found if there were any dog friendly restaurants to stay in the towns were were staying. Plus- we had doggy valium.

We also brought in plenty of books on CD. I know you have a kiddo- which we don't- but maybe you could purchase some Harry Potter audio books or someother books that could appear to both the kids and the 'rents? The voicework is awesome in the HP books, for example, and are good if both you have never read the books or are familiar with them.

And maybe along the way you can see if there are any goofy road side attractions, such as the world's largest ball of string.

If you do drive, good luck and hope that it doesn't end up like the Griswalds!

I like a lot of players.

Thanks Clara. But my dog is over 90lbs. Even I have a van (an Odyssey with pretty good interior size), I'm not sure there's enough room left for baggages.

He's been going places with us but only day trip. We always put him in his crate when he travels. He's too big and will be dangerous if he interrupt the driver.

If I can pack all I need for a 3 weeks vacation for 3 people in one big and one small bags, and buy a ramp for him to walk up the back of the van and directly into his crate, then we may fit everything inside the van.

My dog is actually less a concern for me. My son is the one that can drive both of us crazy.

Re: The 'Tom Welling is our hero and is going to turn/keep Adam gay' chat thread

a) On my test I was concerned about.. the one where no one finished and the median was a 73 and he would make that a B-. Well I got a 73. So I was the median, so I ended up with a B-. I'll take it.

b) I'm really excited because at 9:45 est this online store opens which is only open for like 2 days a month and they sell a lot of stuff at 90% off and I'm hoping I can find a cute bathing suit and maybe some shirts or jeans

c) That's all, and I hope Bucky goes home on American Idol tonight.

Erm....to be honest I'm not 100% sure, it's just something they've recommended to some people on the course so I'm going along with it

Aww. I am in the lucky position where I no longer have to cook for myself. I realized I have around $700 left on my student ID card to use at the foodcourts and there is practically no possible way for me to use it all up in the month and a half I have left here, but I'm trying to use as much as possible. Today I went and got a turkey sandwich, cookie, cheddar popcorn, bag of bite size tortilla chips, cashews, a smoothie, 3 iced teas, some nacho cheese dip... and I only used around $17 of it. There's just so much! And you can't get back what you don't spend.

When I see people about to pay with cash, I've started paying for them. I hope I can get through all of it.

Would you please get some food from the foodcourts and courier them here
