Re: Figure Skating

Actually there are quite a few great skaters, imo. Evan Lysacek (nice smile ), that Russian guy (who's coach is T.Tarasova) - forgot his name He was ON FIRE!! My eyes got all teary after his performance and seeing Tarasova cry is quite something
Joubert is very good, techincally. But he lacks in the artictic department. You can't really learn to be emotional or artistic, you either have it or not (like Plushenko who OBVIOUSLY has it ) BUT, I like his outfits, they got character

Re: Figure Skating

Joubert has improved but i think it's just thanks to his new advicers (yagudin, tarasova, and i forgot the other one )
Because before, he wasn't good as he is now !! alexei learned him a lot !!

Re: Figure Skating

Yeah, he surely tought him a lot and it shows. Sometimes even too much, especially when it comes to steps. But he has toned it down a bit, i guess.
And Tarasova is just brilliant, almost everything she touches turns gold! Well, not literally but it's exciting to see what she makes out of all those skaters!

Re: Figure Skating

*ahem* Can I just agree with everything grafitti said? Except maybe Lambiel becoming my favourite skater.

Plushy fell..... Dang!
Oh, well, he will hopefully pull it together for the LP.

Джиетка: why are you swiss?
Gabrielle: to show my support to federer you know, the slump, the career threatening illness..;

Re: Figure Skating

Yup i thought it was very good and agree that technically Joubert has got it but maybe in performance need to be it bit more smoother and artistic but he has come a long way. And Lambiel wot can i say very talented. Plushenko yeah he fell but some of the other bits he did, the choreography was v.v good.

+ graffiti, Lysacek does have a good smile and also quite good as well, wouldnt of thought he be where he is!

Re: Figure Skating

Stephane Lambiel, OMG he skates so beautifully. So emotional. He takes you to somewhere else. I dunno where it is, to the neverland maybe
The spins are just awesome! He is my fav men's skater at the moment. I'll be cheering for him tonight...!

Q: You have been described as brilliant and unpredicatble, how would you describe yourself?

Marat Safin: Same as you said.

Marat: I couldn't beat him(Andy Roddick) here. Can you imagine if I beat him here, what's gonna happen (smiling)........

Q: So what would happen if you beat him here?

Marat: I don't want to think about it, what would happen. What would happen to the tournament, to the crowd, to the people? I don't know. I don't want to think about it.

Re: Figure Skating

I have enjoyed figure skating for a very long time and I am very sad Evgeni Plushenko had to withdraw from the 2005 World Championships in Moscow because of an injury. On the other hand I am so happy that Tatiana Totmianina and Maxim Marinin retained their Pairs world championship in their Russian homeland. Especially after Tatiana suffered that frightening head and neck injury a few months ago.

I really hope Plushenko lets his battered body fully heal and takes it slow heading into the Winter Olympics next year. The only way he can win the men's gold medal in Turin is if he's healthy and strong and skating well.

Egalite!

Re: Figure Skating

I saw an online news report today located at www.mosnews.com/news/2005/03/17/plushenko.shtml about Evgeni Plushenko withdrawing from the 2005 World Championships in Moscow with an adducter injury. As injured as he is I don't see how he could have done an outstanding long program to win the gold medal. I do wish Evgeni rested up for the World Championships and didn't skate in the much less important European Championships where the Russian's swept the gold medals.

Egalite!

Re: Figure Skating

It sounds like it's a serious injury Suzi. It's imperative Plushenko lets this injury and other injuries fully heal so he can be ready to skate great in Turin next February. The young men's figure skaters are very good and improving and Evgeni will have to be at his best in the 2006 Winter Olympics to win the gold medal. But first things first. Plushenko needs to let his body rest and recover from the injuries. Then I hope he skates just enough to stay sharp next fall and winter.
