Did see SY live a couple of times but they never played Incinerate, too bad..but indeed a great catchy song
Cool. I'll sample the album on iTunes. Yesss 90's week please. Post some 90's alternative; it's probably my favourite genre ever.

I don't know, the other module (let's call it B) is the second half of a year-long module but I'm not taking the first half. I wanted to combine B with A, the module that I'm taking in this term, that is similar to B. But because they are "completely different modules", I can't combine the two and write a dissertation for it; I have to do an exam for one and an essay (8000 words, short of a dissertation) for the other. As the course that I wanted to do a dissertation for - let's call it C - it's just been so boring and dull that I don't think there's anything that I want to say. Or I could do that and write a paper for A and B for fun...I don't know. My prof was in a hurry today so I couldn't talk to him properly. Maybe I should talk to him soon. My friend told me that I shouldn't be fixed on the word count and I should just write about what I'm interested in, which I think is wise, but...I don't know.

Rant on! No problem. My haircut was fine...Yesterday. But now I've slept on it, it looks nothing like it did when I came out of the place. The opposite in fact. No pics as I don't want to frighten any passing children or horses.
What is it like? Haircuts always look best when you're just done at the salon. I'm sure you're totally exaggerating its potential to frighten passing children or horses though. How is school for you?

I know this sounds like a simplistic answer, but I suppose from your point of view the essay is virtually a dissertation, unless I'm misunderstanding this, so why can't it be treated as such? Such a pity that the one you really want to do write a dissertation for holds no interest whatsoever. I think you probably do need to speak with your professor to have things clarified before you go ahead and write about the subject which is of real interest to you here. Very disconcerting, not to say off-putting when the situation reaches this point.

A short bob. Indeed. Which I had done in June, and since then it's grown about another 2 inches or so as my hair tends to grow like weeds. Anyhow, my brother said he'd pay for me to have it done, so I did, and now it just looks like a shorter, messier version of the previous cut. Which was not the look I was going for after one day. Well, maybe a little, but it's not quite at it's best(no exaggeration here ), so I'll spare said animals and little 'uns.

School was a while back for me trip, but it's always interesting to read what and how other folks are doing in their chosen study fields. Some very well educated people here.

Yeah I've been told that the amount of work that goes into the essay and dissertation is about the same. It's just that the dissertation is longer (15000 versus 8000 for the essay) and it sounds more serious than an 'extended essay'. Okay maybe that's just the distinction in my head and I'm just being inflexible but I hate changing my plans. But thanks for the advice though - it makes perfect sense and, as always, you have a good point. I'll try to talk to him soon.

Why did your brother want to pay for your haircut? Your hair probably needs a couple of weeks to settle and look its best. That's usually the case for me - first two weeks of a haircut are disastrous, then it gets better...or maybe I get used to the disaster. I'm still curious to see pics though.

I feel like I should know this, but...what are you doing now? I don't know why I had the impression that you're still studying.

Duncan, is Byrne doing a sort of feedback thing with the amplifier there towards the end to make those sounds? (I'm not a musician, obviously, so I have to ask)
