Tried this and whacked meself on the nose on the 6th hit. Need some more volley practice.. and a head guard.

So someone recently informed me that my sig was empty. Said I needed a life affirming motivational quote by a positive role model like Einstein or Oscar Wilde...

Great tip to stay fit and mobile: If you run up and down the stairs two steps at a time at least once daily, there will never come a time when you can't do it. Until of course one day you mistime a step, collapse and break all your bones... That would suck. But you had a good run.

when i played on a more regular basis years ago i practiced my volleys facing my hitting partner across the net and did really fast reflex volleys at a very high pace....gave some bruises at times hahaha

We were taught to not hold a racquet at the beginning and play a game called slap-ball instead. It involves slapping a ball with your hand against a wall, a bit like squash. Helps with the hand-eye coordination needed to consistently hit forehands and backhands.

Walls are vital for any budding tennis player. I could never find a good wall as a kid so I just slapped against my neighbours windows. Smart kid.

So someone recently informed me that my sig was empty. Said I needed a life affirming motivational quote by a positive role model like Einstein or Oscar Wilde...

It just means you haven't had enough practice simply getting your body used to striking the ball. Take a couple weeks off of life and hit a couple thousand balls either against a wall or an opponent. After that, you'll find your body moving automatically to the correct places to hit the ball, and you'll be surprised how good your hand-eye coordination really is.

I could've just said practice makes perfect, but that doesn't motivate as much as a clear explanation

hard to find a good practice wall these days. it has to have enough free space around it for you to actually play. it has to be smooth; they love those "brick" walls (or faux brick) or putting some weird grooves on it, but that's no good for tennis practice because your ball doesn't come back to you properly; it can be redirected.

the last time I went out with my racquet to try to get some wall practice, I went to this school nearby. It was too low and in no time I had put all the tennis balls I had brought with me on the roof.

Added to that is I have a depth perception problem. I almost couldn't get my driver's license due to that! So all the practice in the world wouldn't overcome the problems. So now I just enjoy watching tennis

Awesome Milos/Murray match, very very intense. Sad for the Murray fans here but that was a big win for Milos

I hate how my iPhone auto corrects Milos to Milo's

So what have u guys been up to? How's life treating ya?

My computer died a week ago, and today I found it was because the hard drive failed, 200 dollars down the drain to replace the hard drive will be fun

Yes sad for us Murray fans, but I was really more disappointed about the way Murray acted than the loss itself. Milos is a really good player, I wish the U.S. could somehow find a good young male tennis player, but so far I don't think there is anyone out there I didn't know it was so expensive to replace a hard drive

Like I said after the final in flushing meadows, It wouldn't bother me if he loses the rest of the year. Milos was terrific and now two of my favorites will be duking it out in the final.

Grats serve and the growing Milos fanbase. The guys the real deal (I need to figure out how to stop the auto correct as well.. Miles really?)
