Surely the title winning goal. Utaka will be a Montpellier legend now.

Re: Football Zone (Man City win the EPL)

An incredible achievement by Montpellier. A new team entering the winners' circle and clinching their first ever league title is always great for football.

La Paillade only spent €1.7 million during the summer, and were not expected to finish in the top half of the table, let alone become champions. Giroud and Belhanda were both a revelation this season.

Nothing against PSG but it is inevitable that they will win the title in the future under QIA's backing, so it was nice to see someone else stealing the headlines and delaying their expected domination of French football for at least a year.

After Lyon's 7 in a row domination from 2002-2008, Ligue 1 is back to being the most competitive out of the major European leagues again, with Montpellier being the 5th different team to win the title in as many years. There were also 5 different champions in a row from 1998-2002 as well.

It's amazing to think that no team has won Ligue 1 more than 10 times in their history, with Marseille and Saint-Étienne sharing the record.

Re: Football Zone (Man City win the EPL)

Also a great story in Portugal with Académica beating Sporting 1-0 to win the Taça de Portugal/Portuguese Cup, their first major trophy for 73 years, and the second in their history.

Whenever a smaller team beats one of the big three in Portugal, and wins a trophy (the first time since 2005), that is a major victory for Portuguese football which has historically been so incredibly uncompetitive.

Napoli also beat Juventus to cause them their only loss of the season

Great stuff from Montpellier, but they won't repeat. They'll have to sell Giroud, but still an awesome achievement for them.

It was good to see Juventus finally lose this season. Napoli played solid from start to finish.

So dissapointing after getting so far in EL and now to the final of the Portuguese cup, and not winning nothing. I'm hoping for a so much better next year for my 3 teams. Now focused on Euro '12! VAMOS PORTUGAL

Great result Montpellier winning Ligue 1, these guys will always be legends in the area for this alone. Lets see how many players they can hold onto. This is actually a triumph for an underdog who play football and Chelsea with £250m playing like cowards.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

Feldman, you'd be the first to bitch if it wasn't an English or Scottish side playing like Chelsea and winning. You'd accuse UEFA or FIFA having a conspiracy.

Re: Football Zone (Man City win the EPL)

I think juve were still hungover.

not a good idea to have an open top bus parade and party 3 days before the final.

great to see napoli finish season with a trophy. faded pretty badly in the league and were pretty unlucky in the CL against chelsea.
