Trust me, their situations may look alike (they played for Ajax, they failed in Italy) but Stekelenburg is not half the goalie Van der Sar was.

That is true, but still I don't think De Gea will leave, and hope he won't.Not sure with who United would replace him

Re: Football Zone

And isn't there some promising GK in Barca's youth team? Wouldn't be surprised if they gave him a chance

Well, according to the resident Barca fan:

Re: Football Zone

pretty nasty of Southampton to sack manager who got them 2 promo's in a row and had them climbing the table this season

they completely and utterly deserve to be relagated now

theyre chairman is a real dickhead so its no surprise

Re: Football Zone

Well 17 seems too young really but not like GKs in Barca have much to do

Friedel? Begovic?

Re: Football Zone

Well, in all fairness Mignolet is a good goalie, would not be out of his place on Old Trafford.

And yeah, age is hardly something that is a factor in Barca. If he is good enough, he is old enough.

Re: Football Zone

He is but De Gea's potential>Mignolet's. If there is some GK which will leave United it is Lindegaard

Brad friedel is one of the best goalies of all time!

his age is a problem

Americans always produce great goalies

Re: Football Zone

Mignolet is and forever will be a more dependable goalkeeper than De Gea. I don't understand why people don't take into consideration that Simon has to save probably five times as many shots as David does, and let's be honest, doesn't concede that many more. Then there's the reliability side of things, De Gea makes probably a few too many mistakes in a season. Mignolet isn't perfect though, but he's better in this regard.

Both are great goalies, but Simon's a special player that's heavily underrated.

Re: Football Zone

But really I can see De Gea would fit to Barca he has good distribution but I really don't see Ferguson letting him go now that he is number 1

BTW, for those who might be interested: Ajax-Feyenoord play on Sunday on 12:30, should be a good match.
