Mark Lenders, Van Persie will win the next one
There are three players who have a chance to sneak in a Ballon d'Or if Messi has a significant dip/declines/gets injured: they are Ronaldo, Xavi and Iniesta, hopefully the latter two since Ronaldo sneaked one before Messi peaked back in 2008.

Van Persie has exactly 0 chances of ever winning one or even being a finalist next year or any year.

The Real Ronaldo won it "only" 2 times. 97' and 2002. He shouldn't have won it in 2002 as he was injured like half the season, but he scored 8 goals in the WC, including 2 in the final so it was NID after that. On the other hand maybe he deserved when he was in PSV too and didn't win it.

Re: Football Zone

Messi with the Ballon d'Or for 4th time, pfff. This only shows how poor football has become. What is Messi, what has he achieved with Argentina in the big events? Nothing. Just a club player this Messi.

When I'm good, I'm very good...but when I'm bad, I'm better

Re: Football Zone

Messi humble ????????????????????

"they played anti football"

"the result was a footballing accident"

"they were lucky tonight as they had tall players at corners"

"There are players here who hate Chelsea more than Real Madrid,"

Re: Football Zone

So Fifa must be only association which rewards winning nothing. Shame that they didn't hear for a guy from local club at my place. He is amazing, scores at least a hat-trick per game + can drink few gallons of alcohol after it without leaving any visible consequences on him . I tell you, he would be life time winner of this prestigious reward

There are already cups and medals for the players who win tournaments. This is an individual award, so it goes to the best player regardless what he won. If someone scores more than 90 goals in a year, there can not be much debate.

He already has a Sub-20 World Cup and an Olympic Gold medal. He is only 25, he has enough time to win the World Cup. In 2010 with Maradona as a coach he never was going to have a shot.

That really is a bad suit. But oh well, he got the award for being the best football player in the world, not the best dressed man.

Re: Football Zone

Argentina just shows Messi is nothing without Iniesta, Xavi around him

think of those 2, winning all the same things as Messi plus a World cup and 2 Euros and get rewarded with no awards

Re: Football Zone

You know how big are Messi's self efforts in all his rewards when the first self made decision after it was dressing that circus suit
