Re: o*Ye Olde Castle vol.35

Seems like Montanes saves at least a crucial break point, usually set pt, in every match he plays

Re: o*Ye Olde Castle vol.35

Well I doubt you can talk about age on the doubles tour, most of the players there are beyond old.

However the Melzer story is quite a fairytale to be honest, quite unreal.

Re: o*Ye Olde Castle vol.35

agreed jase. melzer is making the most of his time left on the tour.

i am happy for him that he was able to win a slam like he did in doubles at wimbledon.

Re: o*Ye Olde Castle vol.35

I want Melzer to win the USO

RO16: Melzer def Nadal 6-4 7-6 (7) 2-6 4-6 6-4
QF: Melzer def Murray 6-1 6-0 6-2
SF: Melzer def Federer 6-3 6-4 7-5
F: Melzer def Djokovic 0-6 1-6 6-4 7-6 (5) 7-6 (143)
*sigh*

I'd take a Davydenko win too...

Re: o*Ye Olde Castle vol.35

That 2nd set against Verdasco in MC this year was unreal from Montanes, probably the craziest set of tennis I've ever seen, Verdasco didn't even play that bad when 5-1 up.

Same here CD, him and Petzschner really deserved it as well. I think both of them will defo make the World Tour Finals in doubles now, hopefully Isner and Querrey qualify as well, will add a lot more life into the doubles tournament.

Will be interesting to see how Melzer does in Toronto, Cincy and New York now as well.

I think there would be an all-time spike in people going to emergency room for heart failures after a 145-143 5th set TB to decide the US Open championship

Melzdown is actually not totally out of the running for the WTF in singles. Would be insane if he made both. I think he is the player outside the Top 10 most likely to win (Maybe delPo?) the USO

That would actually be pretty funny though.

Would be awesome! Hmmm... well he's definitely one of them, but I do think the likes of Querrey, Isner and Cilic do have a slight better chance, but who knows what will happen.

WTF Qualifying

7. David Ferrer
8. Andy Murray
9. Fernando Verdasco
10. Jo-Wilfried Tsonga- No longer has a legitimate chance
11. Marin Cilic
12. Jurgen Melzer

Actually not even really a longshot...

Tsonga probably does still have a great chance, he's great indoors, wouldn't be surprised if he won Shanghai or even Paris again.

He does have a few points to defend though so we'll have to see I guess
