The best way to not let them kick you off is to get your anger together, dude.

It'll help your game too.

Re: •°o*Ye Olde Castle vol.35

I must strongly disagree with that.... how hard on my racquets I am usually relates pretty directly to how I do mentally. I am pretty good mentally overall, actually, contrary to the stereotype

Re: •°o*Ye Olde Castle vol.35

You think that now. That's normal.

Here is the scenario: You will be in a big match, though, maybe deep in a third set. You miss an easy forehand on break point, lose it mentally, and go on to lose the match to the calmer, more focused opponent.

I've seen it happen a million times, been an example far too many.

Re: •°o*Ye Olde Castle vol.35

Well in that case, it may be that you are a McEnroe type who uses his anger on court to his advantage.

You are playing with fire, though. It is easy to get burned.

Well, I mean, yeah, I think I do. I use more slice... which for me means more offensive (Should give you an idea of how defensive a player I am)

Re: •°o*Ye Olde Castle vol.35

Well, not McEnroe really in terms of playing style, but more of mental temperament.

McEnroe would always be talking to himself on court, arguing calls and umpires, working the crowd, but for him, it helped him to focus

What is your game style? You said defensive baseliner?

Re: •°o*Ye Olde Castle vol.35

I have what most people describe as the weirdest functional game they've ever seen. I'm usually compared to Santoro... though when I hit a topspin forehand it is very similar to Nadal's
But I slice almost everything, and am the king of the slice passing shot... I am mostly a junkballer, but I approach the net quite a bit and can become a pusher against a big-hitting opponent. I have a very, very good defensive game that would make me a very good player if I had any offensive game at all. Unfortunately, I do not. My most offensive shot is my backhand return. In rallies, I am content to play defense knowing I will win 9 out of 10 neutral rallies. I bring people into the net a lot with dropshots, as I consider the lob my best shot, and I have a very good behing-the-back lob that I make more often than not.

Oddly, I used to have a very, very offensive game that I totally abandoned....

Re: •°o*Ye Olde Castle vol.35

Wow. Interesting. It sounds like your current Santoro game is impressive and well thought out. If we played, you'd be very tricky.

What is it that made you abandon your offensive game?

Re: •°o*Ye Olde Castle vol.35

Too many UEs. I am prone to inconsistency, and a defensive game gives me more margin for error.

Example:
I go up 4-0, hitting almost all backhand winners.
I go down 4-5, unable to execute anything...
I started playing defensively, won 8-5

Like, I do still go for a few random winners though. I have very good feel for when I am able to.
Tactics are my specialty, and I tank sets pretty regularly.

This is the key here. Do you know what it is that caused you to lose 5 games in a row? Why you were suddenly unable to execute anything?

Good recovery
