i don't think anyone going to argue against you, even academy awards have decided to revise the ten best picture rule.

fully agreed, don't think there's any actor under 40 I enjoy watching more, but I don't think he'll be in the Hoover biopic, too bad that mockumentary thingey might have hurt his career more than he likes, too bad, at least it wasn't real, what a waste that would have been had he actually turned batshit-insane for real, anyway his talent should prevail and he'll soon be in great films again I'm sure
joaquin in the cast of the master, which is currently filming. it the new paul thomas anderson movie based on scientology, so his career is far from dead.

Re: movie stuff

Watched leon for the first time in years. Fantastic as usual

Juan Martin Del Potro

But he lost 23 times against you.
's right. We have to also throw into the mix. But I do not think it is currently the decisive factor. But he has achieved in my opinion too much. Maybe this is crucial if I move him even closer after major victories. But 14 or 17 Grand Slam titles is a significant difference. At the present time there is no question that he must be the greater player than me.

wasn't all bad, his Letterman interview was something else dunno why anyone would want to piss his career away like that but good thing it wasn't on Sheen's level.

yeah but it sucks he's not gonna be in Hoover, i was interested to see how he was going to play that role, and opposite Leo as well.

and yes, Leon is amazing, Reno is a legend (still don't get why he chose to star in Pink Panther remakes aka Sellers' worst nightmare) and Portman had never been better, nor will she ever be. That's her best-acted role to date, Black Swan is not on that level.

Re: movie stuff

So now that I have moved, I own a new home theater with a big plasma TV.

First BD experience: The Fall

It's pure eye candy.

Re: movie stuff

It is awesome. Reminded me of a very bright and more naive Pan's Labyrinth. Tarsem's next project is Immortals, that means I will have to see it in 3D and I hate that. At least it will look gorgeous.

I have to say I am pretty impressed with what a BD player can do to upscale a DVD. I won't have to re-buy the whole collection on BD. Inception looked really good. So only some Sci-Fi and some special films like Wong Kar Wai, some Kubrick and Malick... Mostly for older movies, a DVD on a BD player looks and sounds rather good. Nice because the DVDs are dirt-cheap these days.

I have the Sony s570, it is almost as fast as a regular DVD player.

Re: movie stuff

I have forbidden myself from upgrading any DVDs to BD because if I start I will not stop but as you say they do a good job upscaling.

Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy trailer is out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VkUdXnOBOf0

Just finished The Lord of the Rings and it looked amazing. I am not even sure if I'll need to upgrade anything.

I hope Peter Jackson does the original Dune novels when he's done with The Hobbit. He won't, but it would be nice.

Just watched The Tree of Life. I will go see it again. It is a spiritual experience.

It finally comes out here on Friday, though not in my city so a little road trip is in order.

Re: movie stuff

May I suggest going with someone who knows he/she is about to see an ambitious and metaphysical film from Malick.

Yes that is my worry, I don't want to take the blame for wasted money and some excruciating boredom

Re: movie stuff

I just saw X-Men First Class the other day, anyone else seen it?
I'm still not sure how I feel about it, such a hit and miss film. The casting alone is like a rollercoaster of what is happening here. James McAvoy=, Jennifer Lawrence= etc.

Yep. Reno is a fantastic tragic actor imo, shame he isn't used properly in Hollywood more often.

Never heard of that film but it looks visually stunning. Is it worth watching?

Peter Jackson doing Dune .

lol I was just reading something about Transformers 3 and the horrific image of Michael Bay doing Dune came to me, could you imagine?!
