alrightey... US award season is pretty much over, but in May there's Cannes of course where Tim Burton will chair this year.
Talking about Tim Burton, his new movie Alice in Wonderland has become a massive success pretty much everywhere where it hit cinemas. In the US it easily kept the top spot over Matt Damon's and sparkling vampire Robert Pattinson's new films and has grossed slightly more than 200 million $ in two weeks. Avatar had 280 million $ at that point.
I've watched AiW and did not really like it. The characters seemed flat and Wasikowska clearly proved too weak to keep to carry this film and keep the viewer interested for almost two hours. Depp and Bonham Carter weren't convincing either. The most positive thing, not exactly surprising, was the visual part. All in all it was fine, but not outstanding or what you might think of hearing visionary Tim Burton doing his version of Alice in Wonderland. It should get sth. like two Oscar nominations in the visual categories though. Oh, and it was sth. like 15 minutes too long.
Very talented Joaquin Phoenix won't play Edgar Allen Poe as it was rumoured, but things are looking good that he'll end his rap hiatus hoax(?) soon.
Quentin Tarantino is reported to be in talks with Lady Gaga for a killer role in his new film.
There will be a 3rd Kill Bill movie despite Bill being killed in part 2 and actor David Carradine being dead. Not before 2014 though. Tarantino will return to acting in 2011 playing brainy smurf. I kinda like that thought.
Shooting for The Hobbit pt. 1 will start in summer this year in New Zealand. It will be released in 2012.
