I'm flabbergasted right now. My fav band once again managed the totally unexpected with their latest release Falling Deeper
Some 15 years ago, I came across a song of theirs named "Sunset of Age".
A total heavy doom/death heavy metal 7-minutes-plus piece, including cookie-monster-vocals. The original
version, I mean.
But damn, WHAT A COMPOSITION! I thought.
Even more - this
was exactly the song which convinced me that one day, so-called 'death-doom' metallists Anathema
would indeed become a true force to reckon with in PROGROCK.
And guess what happened...
Apparently Daniel Cavanagh - composer & guitarist & pianist - agreed with me, as the song is there, in a truly fantastic symphonic remake, on Falling Deeper
Pure passion, pure emotion. Don't miss out on the otherwordly guitar solo starting off some three minutes before the end. It's a showcase of the true genius that Danny Cavanagh indeed is.
Oh, those angelic voices in the beginning? coming from the same guy that did the Cookie-Monster Grunts from the original version. Nowadays he sounds like an angel.
