Re: 2017 Cheering Thread

He lost guys (6-4, 6-4), I'm not sure if it is true but I read somewhere that he's been sick but there are other accounts saying it's not true. Whatever's the case I do hope he gets better as the season progresses and get his game going especially in masters and slams. I don't care about people calling him a vulture, thankfully he doesn't as well.

Re: 2017 Cheering Thread

Congratulations to Domi for winning his first title of the year in RIO. This title will surely boost his confidence and belief that he IS a top player no doubt. Hoping for many more wins to come! I dream of him winning a lot of masters and slams in the future. I know he can do it cause he has a good work ethic and attitude in this sport.

P.S No injuries please!!

Re: 2017 Cheering Thread

Domi lost against Querrey, the eventual champion in Acapulco 2017. Anyways, it's nice to know that Domi spends some of his time touring the city or the country that he's in. He needs those break from time to time!

Off to Indian Wells for his next tournament! Good luck to Domi.

Re: 2017 Cheering Thread

All in all the last few weeks have been satisfactory for Dominic. Most importantly he defended his big 500 point score and picked up his first title since last June which should be a big confidence boost. Sofia was obviously rubbish, Rotterdam saw two good wins and one poor performance, Rio was obviously great and in the circumstances Acapulco was satisfactory. Hopefully he can turn this decent form into good performances at Indian Wells and Miami.

Re: 2017 Cheering Thread

The 500 points from Rio was crucial for sure. Not sure how deep Domi is will be in IW, but a R16 will be a decent run I feel. A QF should be his minimum target IMO. Hope he has enough rest for whatever ails him.

Re: 2017 Cheering Thread

Dominic starts his Indian Wells campaign today and he has a pretty nice draw.

R1: Bye
R2: Chardy
R3: Sousa / Zverev (Mischa)
R4: Monfils / Isner
QF: Wawrinka / Berdych
SF: Murray / Tsonga / Goffin
F: Djokovic / Nadal / Federer / Nishikori

After a few days of well deserved rest and a few days of practice, including a doubles match yesterday he will hopefully be in good shape. Anything less than R4 would be a big disappointment and with this draw a QF or SF is a decent prospect.

Re: 2017 Cheering Thread

One match at a time, I think. Chardy is not at his best these days, I hope Domi can win that one.

Yay! Our Domi just won convincingly against Monfils! He'll be up against Wawrinka on the quarterfinals. Best of luck!

Re: 2017 Cheering Thread

Great win for Domi Nice to finally see him do well in a Masters

Wawrinka hasn't looked impressive until now, but he often improves towards the end of tournaments, so will be a real challenge there.

Re: 2017 Cheering Thread

Sad that Domi lost but he fought valiantly against Stan so I'm proud of him! For the past weeks I've seen him improve his bh slice, s&v/do dropshots from time to time and return more aggressively near the baseline. He's clearly trying to improve further and add more variety in his game. Although like the usual, whenever he's down and pressured he goes back to his power play that results to an error most of the time.

Time to recharge his batteries! On to Miami next!

Re: 2017 Cheering Thread

While it is a little frustratingly for him to narrowly miss out on what would have been a very inviting semifinal it was a pretty good tournament overall. Not only a decent run but some good performances and a very encouraging style of play. As he mentioned on facebook he is happy with his tennis again and you can really see it in his play. If he maintains this level there is no reason why he can't do well in Miami and throughout the clay court season.

Re: 2017 Cheering Thread

The draw for Miami is out and once again it is pretty nice for Dominic

R1: Bye
R2: Coric / Granollers
R3: Lorenzi / Mannarini
R4: Berdych / Muller
QF: Federer / Del Potro / RBA
SF: Wawrinka / Goffin / Kyrgios
F: Nadal / Nishikori / Raonic

Obviously would have preferred not to be in Federer's quarter but it is a great chance to at least make another QF.

Re: 2017 Cheering Thread

I'm so excited to see Domi back on court! Hoping he'll have great success in this year's clay season.

Btw, Domi drew the Zverev brothers again for his 1st round doubles match! It's like 3x in a row already if I'm not mistaken. Haha!
