Re: Dominic Thiem

Does anyone know why Thiem isn't playing more? He only had one match so far in 2013... he's not gonna climb the ranking like this... could have played at least 4 tournaments since the beginning of the year.

Release the Stanimal!!

He had problems with his wisdom teeth in January and Febrary. And now he caught a dictis and is in hospital Won't come back before July but hopefully he is at 100% for Kitzbühel.

Shame he has struggled with a few problems recently! Hopefully will be in action soon!

If any of you are interested, I took a few pictures of Dominic last year in Cincinnati while he was traveling with Team Gulbis.

More of my pictures can be found on The Traveling Fan Girl page on Facebook & I've been posting a few never before posted images of Dominic for Throwback Thursday on my site's Tumblr page.

I think it will take him some more time off. He will come out of the hospital tomorrow, so he was in there for 3 full weeks

Re: Dominic Thiem

Dominic's playing very well at the moment. Won a 15k+H futures last week, and moving on into a Challenger QF after beating the 2nd seed this week. His backhand has become huge for him, it used to be a weakness but now it's probably his biggest weapon.

Re: Dominic Thiem

I watched Dominic play the Final at Kenitra, Morocco today. He looks to be the real deal; he's got great lower body strength, a solid serve, a dominant forehand, a backhand that's getting more solid, and a great mental fortitude. He picked up 80 ranking points today and will be approximately #148 in the rankings tomorrow. I'm not sure what his schedule is for the rest of the year, but top 100 to 120 is definitely not out of the question.
He beat Gabashvili pretty easily today after a tight first set. His strokes have great spin and velocity, he's consistent, and he's smart around the court. I really like his speed and anticipation - in today's game you have to be able to accelerate very quickly.
The future looks bright - with a great work ethic he's got top ten potential.
