ROMA 2005

Another ridiculous 1st round draw for Tim: Guga! Tim leads H2H 4-3 but this is their first meeting on clay. If they continue their pattern of winning 2 straight meetings and then losing the next 2 against each other, then this is Guga's turn to win.

Here's their history:

2004 Canada AMS, Hard, R32
Toronto, Canada Hard R32 Kuerten 5 7 4 6

2003 Paris TMS, Carpet, R16
France Carpet R16 Henman 6 4 6 2

2002 Cincinnati TMS, Hard, R64
Ohio, USA Hard R64 Henman 6 3 6 4

2001 Indianapolis, Hard, Q
IN, U.S.A. Hard Q Kuerten 6 3 1 6 5 7

2001 Cincinnati TMS, Hard, S
Ohio, USA Hard S Kuerten 2 6 6 1 6 7

2000 Cincinnati, Hard, S
OH, U.S.A. Hard S Henman 6 7 6 3 7 6

1998 Key Biscayne, Hard, Q
FL, U.S.A. Hard Q Henman 6 2 6 4

GO TIM!

Re: ROMA 2005

Well, I guess the pattern has ended, thank goodness for Tim.
He won 6-3 6-3.

Btw, Yonge, I love the avatar!

Re: ROMA 2005

Next is either Massu or Mathieu.

BTW, Tim reached the 3rd rd. last year (l. to Zabaleta in 3 sets).

Thanks, thenman!

Re: ROMA 2005

Henman VS Massu
H2H: Tim leads 3-1

Tim has won the last 3 meetings, 2 of them on clay. The wins have been pretty close though.

Go Tim!

Tim won pretty easily 6-3 6-2.
Next round Hrbaty. Tim has won their 3 meetings but they've never met on clay.

Re: ROMA 2005

Not any more, he ain't. Sigh...

The Wit and Wisdom of the Tennis Journalist, Indian Wells 2004

ROGER FEDERER: Yeah, I remember this one time when I went on a vacation on the Maldives. That was in the year 2001, I think. I went to this spa. I went to walk around with my girlfriend. I walk in, and we want to book a spa. This guy goes, "AHH, I remember you. You beat Sampras. I saw you on TV." That was like, really, how can you remember me? This guy has probably never been off his island and still knows me. I was a little bit shocked. Then I went to play tennis with him because he was actually the tennis teacher. It was nice.

Q. Were you naked at the time in the spa?

ROGER FEDERER: No. It was at the front desk. I didn't walk in naked.
