Miami 2005

This is not the best tournament for Tim. I don't know what it is about Miami, but he doesn't usually do well there. Let's hope he plays well this year because he hasn't won a match in this tournament since 2002! This year also marks his 10th straight appearance in this event.

Last year's result: 2nd round loss to Melzer (1st rd. bye)
2003: 2nd rd. loss to Escude (1st rd. bye)
2002: rd. of 16 loss to Federer (retired after 1st set)
2001: 2nd rd. loss to Santoro (1st rd. bye)
2000: QF loss to Agassi (3rd set tie-break)
1999: 3rd round loss to Jerome Golmard
1998: SF loss to Marcelo Rios
1997: 1st rd. loss to Julian Alonso
1996: 2nd rd. loss to Bruguera

2005:
1st rd: Bye
2nd Rd: Ivo Minar (first meeting)

Goodluck Tim!

Re: Miami 2005

Tim def. Ivo Minar 6-3 7-5

Next: Juan Ignacio Chela

H2H: Tim leads 3-2. Tim has won the last 2 meetings in straight sets, the latest one was in QF of RG last year.

Note: Tim's draw has become easier with the loss of Joachim Johansson. A QF against Roger is now very likely!

Re: Miami 2005

Tim def. Chela 6-3 6-1! That was easier than expected.

Next: Radek Stepanek. Tim has a perfect 3-0 lead in H2H over Radek.

Go Tim!

Re: Miami 2005

Tim def. Stepanek 7-5 6-3!

Next: Roger. Tim leads H2H 6-3, but Roger has won the last 2 meetings both in straight sets (plus an exhibition in Kooyong). However Roger has not been his usual uber dominant self, being taken to a deciding set in his last 2 matches.

Goodluck Tim! (you're gonna need it )

Re: Miami 2005

Tim loses to Roger 6-4 6-2 :frown:

But the good news is that Tim will be back in the Top 5 of Entry Rankings on Monday.

Here's the tournament summary for Tim:

Nasdaq 100 Open, Miami 2005

1st rd: Bye
2nd rd: def. Ivo Minar 6-3 7-5
3rd rd: def. Chela 6-3 6-1
4th rd: def. Stepanek 7-5 6-3
QF: lost to Federer 4-6 2-6

He needs to keep improving his performances during the clay court season to stay in the top ten.

That's great. I'm definitely glad that Tim's back there. I don't feel that Coria should be there with his abysmal performances.

I think Tim should do pretty well on clay.
