Thumbs up Re: ** KIWI in Paris ** The End of the 2005 Road....

Against Clement :5-1
Against Robredo :0-1
I think he can beat Clement with this good record. Also can beat Robredo, who doesn't play well enough recently.Normally he can win at least 3 matches here as well.

Stan The Paris Man

Cheer for: Wawrinka Murray Ljubicic Gonzalez Mahut Nishikori Soderling Tipsarevic Mathieu Monfils Muller Tsonga Berdych Acasuso O.Rochus Kiefer...

I expect the match against Clément will be like a surprise box: you don't know what you're getting from it

But I would like to hope so much that he can win a few rounds there, come on! One more chance to gain points!

Carlos --- C'MON Lleyton!!! --- Kiwi!!! --- Jürgen --- Juan

Best of luck to all Germans : Nicolas Kiefer | Rainer Schüttler | Lars | Florian | Tommy

Somehow I was hoping for a match against Santoro.

Beating Clement in Paris isn't going to be easy. Clement will want revenge for Nicolas beating him at RG. Unfortunately, I don't see Nicolas winning this match. His mind is in la la land.

Re: ** KIWI in Paris ** The End of the 2005 Road....

I only have the scores, but it's not looking good so far.
Kiwi is down one set, lost the first one 4-6

leading 1-0* now in the 2nd after a long service game (saved break point).

I would wish he gets a lead now and breaks Clément.

Carlos --- C'MON Lleyton!!! --- Kiwi!!! --- Jürgen --- Juan

Best of luck to all Germans : Nicolas Kiefer | Rainer Schüttler | Lars | Florian | Tommy

OMG, good that I didn't follow it, 7-6(6) in the third set, I would have died several deaths.

Me too!

At least he put up a fight and turned the match around after the first set. I'm glad he had such a terrific year. I can't wait for next season, especially if he stays confident now, all he can do is improve on what he did this season. YAY Kiwi!

Nicolas Kiefer

Rafael Nadal | Roger Federer | Alexander Waske | Marcos Baghdatis | Mario Ancic

Goran Ivanisevic will forever be my first tennis love.

Re: ** KIWI in Paris ** The End of the 2005 Road....

I didn't see the match, but I've just read through the thread in the tournament forum and people said it was a good match and it didn't look as if Kiwi was playing badly. At least it seemed to be an acceptable performance and he has all the right to keep his head up after this loss.

Sure, I also wanted the result turned around, but he won against Clément twice alone this season before in a Slam and I think that's worth something also and another time you lose again. That's how it is.

Re: ** KIWI in Paris ** The End of the 2005 Road....

He played the whole year this time and didn't earn more points, so I would call it a bad/average year. I thinks it's really not necessary that players like Stepanek, Ferrer, Johansson, Puerta, ... have a better rank.

I fear the AusOpen will be the only ranking tournament for him until Rotterdam.

Re: ** KIWI in Paris ** The End of the 2005 Road....

Sure, he could play the whole season (thanksfully no serious injury *knock-knock on wood* ) but Kiwi didn't perform well enough in the Masters this year; one quarterfinal and that's the end of the story. Three Grand Slams were quite okay and there would have been more possible if Federer wasn't all the time in his way.

Ferrer has made two Masters semifinals, a Slam QF, good results overall on clay.
Puerta and Johansson posted both big results at a Slam, what Kiwi couldn't do, something like that helps enormously and if you have such a result in your ranking, you are forgiven again lots of other bad results. They all did have some stand-out results that Kiwi didn't have in big events and deserve it to be ranked that high although we know that Kiefer could do the same, regarding ability, talent, where he was once.

As for Stepanek, his ranking will drop also if he can't defend his Masters finals points this week from last year.

Like you say, Australian Open next year is a good possibility to gain points and to make up for the first round loss against Rochus from this season

Carlos --- C'MON Lleyton!!! --- Kiwi!!! --- Jürgen --- Juan

Best of luck to all Germans : Nicolas Kiefer | Rainer Schüttler | Lars | Florian | Tommy
