Hamburg Masters Series

(3) Marat Safin (RUS) vs. Alberto Martin (ESP)
Jurgen Melzer (AUT) vs. Qualifier
Olivier Rochus (BEL) vs. Qualifier
Michael Llodra (FRA) vs. (15) Nikolay Davydenko (RUS)

(11) Joachim Johansson (SWE) vs. Sebastien Grosjean (FRA)
(WC) Phillip Kohlschreiber (GER) vs. Nicolas Kiefer (GER)
Filippo Volandri (ITA) vs. Qualifier
Feliciano Lopez (ESP) vs. (8) Andre Agassi

That's a very good draw for him! Kohlschreiber is coming with a big losing streak, he won't be a problem in the first round. Also Grosjean is beatable at the moment. Round 3 should be the problem here - Agassi or a qualifier (JCF, Gasquet, PHM).

Re: Hamburg Masters Series

The 4th time in a row that Kiwi gets another German LOL
But at least his 2nd round isn't as hard as in Monte Carlo and Rome.

One of the better draws of the past for him!

Carlos --- C'MON Lleyton!!! --- Kiwi!!! --- Jürgen --- Juan

Best of luck to all Germans : Nicolas Kiefer | Rainer Schüttler | Lars | Florian | Tommy

Re: Hamburg Masters Series

A decent draw. I'm still concerned about meeting Joachim Johansson possibly in the second. He isn't a clay courter but still a good player. Grosjean is slowly coming back to form, let's hope it isn't this week.

If Agassi wins Rome, I wouldn't be surprised if he "fake" an injury to withdraw from Hamburg.

Re: Hamburg Masters Series

Sure he will meet good players soon if he beats Kohlschreiber in the first round, but this is a Masters with a good quality in the field and the 2nd round at least could not be a mega top claycourt specialist like Gaudio or Coria. That's what counts for me at the moment and after two very hard 2nd round opponents, this at least is looks a bit easier on the paper

Carlos --- C'MON Lleyton!!! --- Kiwi!!! --- Jürgen --- Juan

Best of luck to all Germans : Nicolas Kiefer | Rainer Schüttler | Lars | Florian | Tommy

Re: Hamburg Masters Series

It was a good match for Nicolas to start off with. The match was closer than scoreline indicated.

To be honest, after seeing true clay court specialist's play in the Rome final this match lacked in the entertainment factor In today's match, the points were like practice drills: cross court backhands.

Seb can be difficult but I think the home crowd will help Nicolas.

Re: Hamburg Masters Series

With Grosjean he has to be careful. It's hard to say how good Grosjean currently really is, but he's a few classes higher than Kohlschreiber, that's sure.

Hopefully Kiwi can make it!

Re: Hamburg Masters Series

OK, so I could not get myself out of bed after not being able to truly go to sleep till 2:30...so I didn't get up till 6:30 and missed the match.

Thankfully, TTC will show the match again so I will be watching it later. Been way too long since I've seen Kiwi play.

Knowing that he plays Seb on Wednesday sucks!!!
