Re: Kiwi interviews & articles

According to Eurosport and TZ Kiwi returned to Hannover last weekend and started tennis practice again yesterday. They quote him like this "Ich gehe davon aus, dass ich bis dahin wieder fit bin. Ich freue mich drauf." I am expecting to be fit until then (the Davis Cup) and I am looking forward to it. "Ich freue mich so darauf, dass ich am Montag endlich wieder einen Schläger in die Hand nehmen kann" - I am so much looking forward to finally hold a racket in my hand again on monday

Re: Kiwi interviews & articles

More than 1 day has passed since we got the main draw and still no news about the reason? Of course, what happened indicates that he would have got the wildcard, but refused it, as if he isn't ready to play yet.

Before the bad news came out yesterday, I was wondering why he didn't ask for Besancon. This would have been a nice test on hardcourt in Europe with solid opponents.

Re: Kiwi interviews & articles

He never posts on sundays... let's wait for monday... but there is still a small chance that the injury wasn't the reason to give the wildcard to Seppi.... hope dies last like he always says
And why Besancon if he could have played in Wolfsburg which is just next to Hannover?? I was hoping for Wolfsburg.. but he didn't appear in this draw, too :-((

Kiwi will carry the torch for the Olympic Wintergames in Vancouver

15 international torchbearers join Vancouver 2010 Olympic Torch Relay that launches today.

CTC collaborated with VANOC to select runners, lend celebrity glitz to largest domestic relay in Olympic history.

The waiting is over. Today, the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Torch Relay gets underway in Victoria, BC, the start of a 45,000-km (28,000-mi) odyssey crisscrossing Canada from coast to coast to coast. Of the 12,000 torchbearers, there are 15 confirmed international ones chosen by the Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games (VANOC) in collaboration with the Canadian Tourism Commission (CTC), lending extra celebrity lustre.

The commission’s objective for the project is to generate media buzz for “Canada’s Games” in its nine key markets around the world and two emerging markets by inviting local celebs, athletes and VIPs to Canada to run with the legendary flame.

It’s the largest domestic relay in Olympic history: 12,000 torchbearers on a journey through 1,000-plus communities in every Canadian province and territory. Supported by the Government of Canada, the relay is presented by Coca-Cola and RBC.

The relay finishes in Vancouver, BC, on Feb. 12, 2010, as the curtain rises on the 2010 Winter Games.

Here’s the CTC/VANOC list in full:

Nov. 1: Speed skater Chun Lee-Kyung from South Korea in Tofino, BC.

Nov. 4: Aerial skier Alisa Camplin from Australia in Dawson City, YT.

Nov. 9: TV commentator Mary Carillo from the US in Iqaluit, NU.

Nov. 12: Figure skater Katarina Witt from Germany in L’Anse aux Meadows National Historic Site, NL.

Nov. 17: Short track speed skater Ikue Teshigawara from Japan in Port Hawkesbury, NS.

Nov. 22: Short track speed skater Yang Yang from China in Summerside, PEI.

Nov. 24: Swimmer Cesár Cielo from Brazil at Hopewell Rocks, NB.

Dec. 3: Tennis player Nicolas Kiefer from Germany in La Cité, Québec City, QC.

Dec. 17: Bollywood star Akshay Kumar from India in Toronto, ON.

Jan. 7: Former ski jumper Eddie “The Eagle” Edwards from the UK in Winnipeg, MB.

Jan. 11: Figure skater and TV commentator Philippe Candeloro from France in Wanuskewin Heritage Park, just north of Saskatoon, SK.

Jan. 19: Opera singer Anna Maria Kaufmann from Germany in Calgary, AB.

Jan. 25: Speed skater Ye Qiaobo from China in Osoyoos, BC.

Feb. 5: Torchbearer to be announced for Whistler, BC.

Feb. 11: Torchbearer to be announced for Burnaby, BC.

Re: Kiwi interviews & articles

Kiwi's baby was born this Wednesday. It's a little girl called Mabelle Emmilienne

Translation of what is written on Nicolas' website:

"I was present at the birth. It was the biggest moment of my life. We are over the moon and really proud. It's an indescribable feeling to keep this little life in your hands. I thank Anna." Mother and daughter are well.

Kiwi writes: "Mabelle Emilienne has immediately laughed and the eyes opened. It's simply fantastic! Now we are a family. It was the most beautiful day in our life and we are looking forward to a common future with our daughter."

Congrats to Kiwi and Anna and all the best for the little family

Re: Kiwi interviews & articles

in the interview he is talking about his plans for the tour. He will spend some more time with his baby before he will start playing challengers. He wants his daughter to see him play and realize it. So he wants to play 3 more years he said.
