Another embarrassing defeat, Berdych/Kiefer lost to Cipolla/Fognini 6-7(2) 4-6. Based on their talent you would expect a bit more from them, but they always lose early it seems.

Another poor result against Robredo.

From 6-3 and triple bp up to 6-3 2-6 0-5.

Re: The European Swing... next stop Madrid

I didn't expect him to win against Robredo on clay in Spain anyway. Robredo already won 2 titles on clay this year. I think winning the first set is a good result. At least Kiwi seems to be healthy. Two more tournaments and he can regain confidence on grass. I hope he will stay healthy until then.

That's too bad. Would he be able to play at Roland Garros?

I think he will. He travelled to Düsseldorf today for World Team Cup and didn't mention the injury. So I guess he is fit. I will be there from tomorrow on and will keep you updated

Re: The European Swing... next stop Düsseldorf!!

He played good tennis in the 2nd and 4th set. Basically the only 2 sets I saw today.

I closed the stream after a few games and just watched some points from time to time after that. It was awful. Hopefully he can give a match next week, although Brands would be one of the best draws there.

Re: The European Swing... next stop Halle Westfalen!!

Nicolas played Greul this week in Munich in R1 and lost 5-7 2-6 on Tuesday. He played erratically and struggled returning Gruel's first serve, and the heavy conditions didn't help. These are his first weeks back so too much should not be expected.

His next scheduled tournament is Madrid qualifying, starting Saturday. Lets hope for a good draw and result for Kiwi!
