right!
maybe Hernandez would be good... Acasuso also sucks big on grass, but he isn't a claycourter only and has a good serve at least. Or what about David Sanchez? Is he in Wimbledon? haha, that would be some better opponents then immediately Berdych in 1st round here at Halle *dream*

Acasuso isn't an option, since he already withdrew. Taking a look at the Top 30 players of the entry list, then I'd say that the following players could be acceptable first round opponents for Kiefer:

3 Davydenko, Nikolay RUS 3 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
7 Robredo, Tommy ESP 7
(8 Ljubicic, Ivan CRO 8) --> if he continues to disappoint
14 Ferrer, David ESP 14
20 Ferrero, Juan Carlos ESP 19
21 Canas, Guillermo ARG 20
22 Chela, Juan Ignacio ARG 21
26 Hrbaty, Dominik SVK 25
27 Safin, Marat RUS 26
29 Andreev, Igor RUS @27
30 Calleri, Agustin ARG 28

So of course mostly claycourters. Hopefully I won't get punished by Davydenko for this post by him winning in straights against Kiefer in 1st round.

maybe he is lucky for a change and doesn`t face a seeded player. If not I'd add Blake and Nalbandian to your list. They were both not very strong in Halle. Also Murray, Haas and Youzhny. If they don`t withdraw they will at least not be 100% fit. Not sure about Canas though. He is good on hardcourt so he could be good on grass... But I am sure no matter who will be the one... he will underestimate Kiwi

I thought about adding Blake, but remembering that he defeated Roddick last year on his road to the Queen's final, I chose not to.

I'd rather not see Nalbandian near Kiwi I have a very high opinion of him regarding potential ability if he has a good day (which is seldom nowadays). Even though he doesn't seem to have the best time of his career right now, he usually doesn't play his best in little events, but in Grand Slams.

Canas isn't that bad on grass. He won a few rounds at Wimbledon and likes playing in s-Hertogenbosch on grass, but that is usually a deep slow cowfield anyway. I'm curious to what it looks this year, but Halle/Queen's were totally superior to s-Hertogenbosch regarding grasscourt quality.
