I hate that my favourites keep being drawn against each other early in tournaments.
I know, but Richard was often coming back from injuries when he played the year-end tournaments in France. I think Bercy and RG can be scary, but he did well in Metz in the past 2 years for instance, so I doubt playing in Lyon impresses him more. But this year again he's not playing too well for the end of the season so he should not be a big threat. But with Marat people ranked 500 can be threats so...

yeah, I know he's had injury problems and stuff, but his results in France this year haven't been great at all for one reason or another so the home crowd factor doesn't always work for him. But it will be interesting to see how this match turns out, like I said before it has the potential to be a great match.

Re: Marat, fais-nous rugir de plaisir à Lyon!!!

Marat worst event for ranking is Dubai - 25 p, so he needs QF to gain 15 p and so on. If he looses early - no points but more rest for Paris, reverse - gets more points and Paris whatever. the worst is QF (few points and short rest), so if he gets to QF he better win the whole thing

Re: Marat, fais-nous rugir de plaisir à Lyon!!!

If Marat loses first or second round he will add 0 points to his rankings;
QF - add 30 pts (No.34-35);
SF - add 75 pts (No.32);
F - add 130 pts (No.28-29);
W - add 200 pts (No.23).

I like both players but I've forbidden my other favourite players to beat Marat-that's a rule. They must follow the hierarchy otherwise I'll penalize them For this tournament, I'm not really convinced he should play, he usually plays at St.Petersburg so I really have no idea why he switched to Lyon.

Re: Marat, fais-nous rugir de plaisir à Lyon!!!

St Petersburg offered him too small appearance fee and it hurt his pride...

Concerning the discussion about whether he should or not play Lyon or rather skip it to be fresh for Paris, personnlay I think as long as he's commited to play he's gotta play. All the beginning of the year he's had to withdraw plenty of times cause he was injured. Now he's fit, let him play. I agree a final would not help be fresh for Paris and I WANT him to win it again, but i dunno how NOT to wish him whatever tournament he plays in, so I'll wish it again this week...
