I agree with you about him losing confidence after finals he didn't win... but again there was a difference: all those finals were played on surfaces he likes, so of course losing them did affect him....
Grass isn't a surface he likes to play on, so even if he lost that final i think he gain confidence more than he lost it, because he did play well on a surface he doesn't like, and he did reach a final on that surface. So yeah he lost a final, but he proved himself he could be good on grass and he reached a final on grass for the first time of his life. To me it's quite positive.
Of course he could lose in first round next week.

And i understand you don't want to be too optimistic, i don't want to either. But at least this year i'm thinking: hey, he could do something after all.... last year he arrived in Wimbledon with only pessimistic thoughts, and i was thinking: he'll lose.
