Re: The "i hope to get my second major of 2005 at Wimbledon!" thread

Have you guys forgotten about his run at the AO2004?
If he could do that after almost a year off, he can do anything.
Marat plays on confidence. He's quite confident now, and i think the more he will get into the tournament the better he will play because he beat strong opponents.
By the time, he'll get to lleyton and roger, ( assuming he gets there :-) ), he'll be just ready to take them!

But I would prefer a tougher one - there is not enough grass court specialist for me

hmm....well, there's always next year to look forward to

kind of unrelated to marat. but you gotta love those ES.com writers.

Croatian beanpole Ivo Karlovic upset top-seeded compatriot Ivan Ljubicic 6-1 3-6 7-6 to reach the quarter-finals of the grasscourt Nottingham Open on Wednesday.

Re: The "i hope to get my second major of 2005 at Wimbledon!" thread

The moment i saw the draw I was instantly reminded of AO2004... Marat seems to always bring out the very best in him when facing good players. I think we all know that

Earlier this year at the Hopman Cup Marat said that he had to wait to see his draw at Wim to see whether he would go far this year. So I said to him that he usually does better with tougher draw and he said "yes, but I usually do not get to the tougher part of the draw becoz they are seeded..."

So there you go Marat, as tough draw as possible at the GS you hate most. I hope this would bring out the best of you though, and prove to us all ever again that you are the master of surprises.

If you are good at something never do it for free....

FINALLY some hopeless Australian TV network is going to be showing some tennis ... so Marat pull your socks up (not too high or you'll look damned ridiculous) and go as far as you possibly can ... I've already told hubby I'll be a mess for the next fortnight as coverage starts at 10:30pm most nights... so I'll be burning the midnight oil.

C'mon Maratsky

btw, does the draw really make a difference with Marat anymore ... he can beat anyone on a good day ... let's just hope Halle Marat is still on the payroll, coz if Dubai, Indian Wells or Miami Marat turn up instead it's bye bye Wimby!

HOOSTIE r u out there??? ...

let me know your email addy ... I can send you all the foxtel programming for Wimby - I used to work for one of the papers here and the TV mag editor has emailed me the foxtel blurb, with complete programme listings - it's no good to me as hubby's still too cheap to get Foxy (maybe I need those Va Va Va Voom goodies to sway him) ... Channel 9 have started their wimby promos so I'm getting just a bit excited (god, that's so sad!)

Re: The "i hope to get my second major of 2005 at Wimbledon!" thread

damn wimbly draw people, of all the halves to put him in, you put him in the one that's going to be playing on the day i'm there, and you just know they won't put the 5th seed on crt 2 if he's playing mark phillopoowhatsit, and even if they do, it'll be first match and i'll miss it...doomed i tell you to never see marat play

this of course is all hypothetical considering who he's playing first round good thing is, i just saw paradorn loose in Nottingham to Gasquet and he's got an iffy shoulder

Remember cuddles in the kitchen to get things off the ground, and it was up up and away
but its right hard to remember that on a day like today when you're all argumentative and got the face on...right then mardy bum...

Said, who's that girl there
I wonder what went wrong so that she had to roam the streets
She don't do major credit cards I doubt she does receipts
Its all not quite legitimate...

And I can't be arsed to carry on in this debate when you say I don't care, but of course I do, yeah I clearly do...

okay, also just to let you guys know - Wimbledon weather has officially arrived in the UK today was the first time I've worn my proper rain coat since walking into town to stay at Kev's to watch one of Marat's AO matches.
