An old article someone just posted in the Federer forum: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/mai...5/stcort05.xml

Court & Social: Coach 'cleaned out because he didn't clean up'
By Mark Hodgkinson (Filed: 05/07/2004)

It does sound a little cuckoo-clock zany, but could Roger Federer's former coach, the man who guided the Swiss to a first Wimbledon title last summer, have been sacked because of a sink full of dirty dishes? The conspiracy theory, heavily tongue-in-chic, is that Federer's immaculate girlfriend wanted one less man to clean up after in the entourage's flat.

Mirka Vavrinec has, on several occasions, complained to friends about the amount of washing-up she does in their rented accommodation in Wimbledon Village. Then there's the washing and cooking. She hardly has time for her proper job, arranging her boyfriend's media commitments. You can't, it seems, have it all.

Mischievous insiders suggest that Peter Lundgren, the highly respected Swedish coach, may have been let go, not for any professional reasons, but for Federer's search for domestic bliss. Lundgren's departure, which was announced last December and had the tennis world in shock for months, with some questioning Federer's decision to go solo, may have been prevented if the coach was better house-trained.

Re: Peter Lundgren glorification thread

Having recently split with ex-coach Peter Lungren, Safin revealed that he had received a call from the Swede after he had accepted a Davis Cup coaching position from the British LTA.

"He called me a couple of days and told me; I'm totally cool, we are still friends. It's been the nicest break from each other when business-wise things didn't work. But as for the relationship, I still love him. I still think that he is a great coach, a great person which is the most important quality. Difficult to find great people in such an ugly world. I was very pleased to work with him, spending two years of my life with him and I wish him all the best. We are still going to see each other next year; I've invited him to come with me to Moscow for the Davis Cup final, so we have a good relationship. Unfortunately we have to separate our ways."
