Let's talk about 2005!

Return to a tennis thread...the main subject!

So what do you think?...He'll do well or very well?

Can he win another slam this year? Which one?

Can he beat Roger?...Can he be beaten by Andy?

.............

Re: Let's talk about 2005!

I think Safin will improve during 2005 and will emerge as Federer's main rival! Hewitt and Roddick clearly have no chance against him so it could be up to Safin I feel I think if he has a good clay court season then he will finish as world number 2.

Bea, where's your avatar from?
Safin will be #2 in 2005, if he stays focused and doesn't get injured.

Re: Let's talk about 2005!

My av is from Miami 2004...not from caribbean 2004
correction: probably from 2002.

I think he can win Roland Garros next year, if he stays focused during the two weeks...and without "blisters" injury.
He can play well on clay...and he likes so much the tournament...FO + Bercy (in the pocket)...He'll be the king of Paris.

I'm not sure about Roger but I think that FO will be his main goal next year... hard...very hard.

Re: Let's talk about 2005!

I'd like to see Marat win Roland Garros, but I know it's hard , have a lot great players on clay like Ferrero, Moya, Guga etc... But I still believe !

hmmm I dont think Federer will win it - if he struggled like he did against Kuerten then I dont fancy his chances to be honest.

Re: Let's talk about 2005!

We know Roger can play very well on clay...And this year he struggled against a perfect gustavo...really motivated by the "almost home" crowd.

Re: Let's talk about 2005!

Quick question: What caused those blisters??

And, I, too, believe he will be #2 in 2005!

Re: Let's talk about 2005!

You crack me up, Ilhame! I think I would have to worship Peter a god if that happens.

Important to not have such deep lows as last year and I'm confident he won't, although oafish hiccups can surely happen but not for long.
Roland Garros ... yeah that would be The One for sure.

I have to get back on this.

[btw Bea, that pic is from before 2004, not?]

Re: Let's talk about 2005!

I have been lurking Marat's forum for a couple of weeks now, time to post

I think 2005 will be a great year for Marat (God willing with no injuries) since he ended this one on such a high note. He has good chances at AO, RG, and USO, so he could definitely take one home. I personally think he will be the best rival for Federer, and that him and Andy will have a great matches as well.

In Paris he said he doesn't know, had never happened to him before (blisters like these), it was very strange indeed. I don't know if they found out something later. It might have been something that caused some allergic reaction or something.... or just from sweating and suddenly playing so much.... who knows. He has pretty delicate skin it seems.
