Re: Au revoir et Bercy...

I always knew Del Potro was a good guy, this just makes me like him even more. When they sat together on the bench it was really a moment of realization for me and it was nice of Del Potro to write that on the camera. I'm so pleased it has ended this way.

Re: Au revoir et Bercy...

Just finished watching the match and the ceremony. Oh, my, I thought I could be cool, but I just couldn't control myself. Marat, such a nice guy off-court, a charismatic guy on court, a forever funny boy, an incredible character with hundreds of quotes, and a kind-hearted human being (had a 2 hour close encounter witnessing him in a car accident back in Cincy 2006).

I have always loved to watch tennis. Yet, Marat is the person that made me feel passionate about the sport. I still find his game and style unique and unforgettable, yesterday's match was such a great example.

Nice to see JMDP sitting with his childhood idol and talked to Marat. Also, Novak, Gilles, Tommy to say goodbye to him...

Thank you Marat for bringing us all the roller-coaster-ride excitements. MARAT SAFIN'S ERA finally officially ended..Who'd be able to replace you?

Oh, MARAT!!!!!!!!!!!!! Best of luck in your future projects and life!!! What can I do, tears keep falling down...:cr ying2:
I will miss you so very much, BIG YIN! As a matter of fact, I have already missed you.

ps. This forum is not gonna close, right? I hope we can still chat about Marat!

Sampras' forum is still open over 7 years after his last match.

Re: Au revoir et Bercy...

I'm still speechless after all of those differents emotions so i'll make it short .

One of my favorite movie quote is ' if being crazy means living life as if it matters then i don't care if i'm completely insane ' So go and be insane while you can Marat and 'Bye-Bye' !

I'll post in the good thread a link to my youtube channel where i uploaded a few videos and i still have to upload the ceremony !

Re: Au revoir et Bercy...

reading your posts and the lovely things you have said about Marat has got me in tears again,a sad day for us all.He never let us down in his final match,he went out on a high, the whole arena was cheering for him, adored by so many.It is hard to say
goodbye but we have such beautiful memories of a beautiful man that has taken us on a journey of emotions ,from the highs to the lows and we loved every minute of it.I hope we will see his face on the tennis scene sometime in the future, who knows?
GOOD LUCK MARAT I WISH YOU HAPPINESS AND CONTENTENT IN YOUR NEW LIFE

Re: Au revoir et Bercy...

I didn't cry at all when watching the ceremony - I thought I would. I'm happy for Marat - he put up a good fight and lost to a nice guy. The ceremony was very good and I liked how all those players showed up.
Now on to bigger and brighter things for Marat!

I see Nole gave away info on Marat's retirement "plans" AGAIN!!!

I completely agree.

Regarding the status of this forum, I'm sure it will stay open as long as people post in here once in a while. There are forums for Sampras, Agassi, Coria, Guga, Costa, Bjorkman, Henman, etc.

Re: Au revoir et Bercy...

Was planning to get here yesterday, but got disconnected.

Farewell Marat. I'm actually in equal parts sad and relieved - the struggle is finally over. That was a great match, and a perfect way to end a great career. May you, in whatever new life that awaits you, always remember how beloved you were, how treasured and how missed. How terribly, terribly missed. You were truly one of a kind.

All the luck to you opening all those doors. Thanks for everything - it was one hell of a ride. Peace out.

Re: Au revoir et Bercy...

You know Nole said he would go skiing with Marat. Remember how last year they were supposed to play an exho in St Anton? They might play it this year. *wishful thinking*
