I know, right? he looked a bit shaky at the start, but, he firmed things up pretty well at the end of the first set. Lost a bit of concentration when he lost serve on his 1st game of the second set, but, regained it and is looking pretty good. This guy is pretty good, just has been going for a bit too much.

Re: Shanghai Surprise!

Well considering it could be the last love service hold of his career then I can be nothing but pleased about it

Yes, this guy seems to be going for too much when he completely doesn't need to, if he just peppered the Safin forehand the errors would end up flowing.

Marat shanking backhands now?

Re: Shanghai Surprise!

What's with the cheesy music during the changeovers? If they started doing this at Wimby, I would chain myself to Gate 3 in protest.

I love a bit of cheesy music, personally, nothing better than a good old Ballad. It would be funny if they played "Time to say goodbye" as he walked off court, again.

Re: Shanghai Surprise!

what's he doing? saying he's going to talk w the chair ump's supervisor? I'm not quite sure what happened there, looks like Gong challenged a serve, it was called in, and that was it...

he just looks so agitated out there, like he's not enjoying anything right now

I missed that, when did they do that? I don't mind a little cheese either, it just doesn't suit Marat!

I know, I thought he looked out of sorts right from the beginning.

Well, he got the job done, that's all one can say. A most unprepossessing win.

he had no reason to be in a good mood. He wasn't paying against Nadal or Gonzo

They done that at the end of the ceremony thing in Beijing when pictures of him came on the big screen.

I've made a nice cheesy video of Marat to upload on youtube (when I can)

Not another tribute one, there are enough of those, although I'll do a unique one of him when he is retired.

Oh yeah, your Celine Dion magnum opus! Can you do it sooner rather than later, Burrow? I'm itching to see it.
