Yes I cannot believe my eyes too. I tried to be calm after Philipp won the second set...and he won! I'm off to drink beer. Hope little_masha was here though!

Re: One night in Bangkok... hopefully a few more!

arguments with the umpire. almost, but he kept his cool and just broke serve in the second set. But the last one was pretty alright. Though he got me frozen for the last 2 points

I'm gonna get myself a carlsberg. A tsingtao for Marat. See you, it's dinnertime here. 5 MPs wasted and a win. That made up for it

Re: One night in Bangkok... hopefully a few more!

Well he argued about two out calls for about 15 seconds each on the second set but just walked away after. He didn't look too hot-headed at the time, and was clearly disinterested to continue arguing. Philipp was giving leeway, with double faults, poor serve. Some good play from Marat saving two points in the second with volleys and I think the guy who kept shouting Marat Safin also added up to the victory. Twas kinda cool, he was just a lone voice shouting. <3 <3

He just caved in on the last game of the second set which was the 'pathetic' moment of the match. I think I saw Marat had tried to break his racquet which he failed at and continued to play with it. Or I may have seen it the wrong way. 5 MPs last game, and I was just biting my nails everytime the umpire called it deuce!

Marco Chiudinelli next up!

Yup, no hawk-eye. Just replays. First one was really out, the second, I dunno. But it's good he didn't persisted on it.

Re: One night in Bangkok... hopefully a few more!

Marat wins in singles and doubles - way more than I asked for!
Petzschner is ranked #36, so this is Marat's 1st win this year over a top 50 player.

I wasn't online yesterday, so I didn't know about the doubles win. Bangkok is 11 hours ahead of me, so it's a bit tough for me to be around to watch a stream.

Nice pics, moro girl!

He can't play doubles because his next round opponents still have to play their R1 match Wednesday (Garcia-Lopez/Zverev vs A. Beck/Petzschner). I guess it ain't bad to have a day off.

EDIT --> This is what I like to hear from Marat!
