Re: From California Dreamin' to a New York State of Mind ... 2009 summer hardcourts

right, so what happened was I was actually there at 9am! And the gates weren't open! We asked the security and gatekeepers when they'd be open etc and they had no clue! Told us the practice sessions were open to the public on friday but not yesterday (saturday) and they weren't sure about today. What a load of rubbish.

Anyway, so we waited till about 10 plus urrrrgh! tried peeking in through the fences, on a little slope overlooking the main court, saw Taylor Dent that way

Then gave up and went to Westwood village to walk around a bit. Then came back to get my car but saw that the gates were open! So we scrambled in and saw Marat sitting around chatting with Tommy. That was about noon. Then marat left so these are the only pics of him

So...conclusion: it's all the organisers' fault

No way, it's barely one inch long! Any shorter and we're back to the 2009 Miami "escaped convict" length ... and try running your fingers through that!
The Miami skin head was pretty different, unusually refreshing, I kind of thought, plus, he played good tennis against Monfils, he just choked big style and I was physically sick afterward.

Deea

I am thinking of waking up very early to catch a glimpse of the exho. Hopefully there will be streams....

Yesterday's practice session (slow-mo) with Yen-Hsun Lu. "C" hasn't been uploaded yet, I don't think....

This one's for you, Burrow! Again from yesterday's practice with Yen-Hsun Lu:

F http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aNGtrlyBq5M

Sterling moments: the running forehand down the line @ 0:20. What can't he do when he shifts his pert little backside?! Excellent serve, tho', from Lu straight afterwards but Marat's not done yet! Wrong foots Lu at 2:36, and a sizzling return @ 3:43 ...

Right, gonna unpause it now to watch the rest ...

Re: From California Dreamin' to a New York State of Mind ... 2009 summer hardcourts

Intriguing tweet from Justin Gimelstob: http://twitter.com/justingimelstob/statuses/2864787123

"Home sweet home, back in LA for @latennisopen, busy day tomorrow, filming for "ATP World Tour Uncovered" and MCing the Sampras/Safin match"

Will this be, I wonder, an informative, objective glimpse into the gruelling world of pro tennis, or a dirt-dishing exposé of its seedy underbelly? I get the feeling, with Gimelstob, it's anything goes.

Sampras

If this was 2000 I would have been more confident in Marat winning

But Sampras is probably better than him now
