Baby, It's all white now...Wimbledon time! Seeded 14th! Well that didn't last long :(

Hi, I was wondering if anyone could help me - I'm hoping to go to Queen's on the Monday or Tuesday and I really want to see Safin play. I just wanted to know if anyone has been to the tournament before and knows which court Safin is more likely to play on - Centre Court or Court 1? I thought that if Safin plays on the Monday then him and Lleyton Hewitt would propably be the most likely players to be on Centre Court but I'm not sure. Or does anyone know when the draw comes out, in case I should wait to buy a ticket?

Any help is very much appreciated, thanks!

I can't help much. I've been to Queens twice - both courtesy of someone giving me their tickets. It's become much more popular in the last few years so I would be a bit wary of waiting too long to buy tickets (if you can get them at all which I think is far from guaranteed now). I think Nadal, and very probably Roddick, are playing as well as many other top players so it could be Monday or Tuesday, but I would guess Monday - who knows on the main or secondary courts.
If you do get a ticket, you do get very close to the court - it's a great atmosphere, as long as you're not too close to the hospitality suites but perhaps that's now changed it's not sponsored by Stella Artois!

Re: Marat at Queen's/AEGON Championships

Thanks for your reply, I decided to go for Centre Court on the Monday - I found out that's where Marat played on the Monday last year as well so hopefully I'll be lucky and he'll be there again, as I really want to see him play before he retires!

And if you can get close to him on a practice court and look at the little hairs on the back of his neck as he's having a break, that is really unforgettable!

Great fun.

^ Is he in the "player's near retirement" section of the draw?

Pretty good draw.

At least with a bye he'll be able to defend last year's 2nd round points

not really he gets the same number of points if he loses in his first match, regardless of whether that's a first round match or a second round match due to a bye...

I'm still going, I bought a ticket for Tuesday as well so I'm hoping Safin will be playing then as last year the 6th, 7th and 8th seeds played on the Tuesday. Otherwise hopefully I'll have luck at the practice courts. Does anyone know if you're likely to get photos with players/autographs if you wait for them to finish practice? I have no idea as I haven't been to any tournaments other than Wimbledon before!

Do you reckon I will be likely to get a photo with Marat at Wimbledon? Basically the only reason I am going is to meet and see him.

I've been to both Wimbly and Queens and I managed to get his autograph at Queens; I could have taken a photo with him as well then, had my brain still function at the time . I think it all depends on both his mood and your patience: in my case, he tried quite hard to get rid of us - by not coming off the court for over half an hour after he had finished his practice - but some of us have stronger wills than him. I appreciate however that at least he came and signed/took photos with those still there and did not try to get off court other way. So yeah, especially at Queens, it's highly possible to get autographs, photos with him.

Wimbledon - I've been only once and did not manage to see Marat that day. As long as he practices at Wimbledon itself (I think sometimes he doesn't), then it's possible, but I imagine you'd have less chances than at Queens, since there are more people around and he might be more tensed also.
