Re: Is it worth it to have a Madrid thread (embarrassed)?

Marat has a black hole at his right wing that sucks out games, sets and matches. All anyone has to do to beat him is to hit two shots to his forehand (three, tops) and a godawful error will be the result.

He fucked up both his bps with forehands into the net.

No not ok, at least by the standards of 2004-2005. But it's the forehand that outright loses him matches.

I understood that Kolya withdrew with the wrist injury or smth (his right arm/hand bothered him during the Kremlin Cup final already but I thought it was more like an upper arm or shoulder ) So it's all wide open for .... Karlovic now instead of Marat.

on the madrid website's frontpage, in the right hand corner, there's a little caption of marat's face looking sorta pensive and the headlines : "KIEFER FINALLY TASTES MADRID SUCCESS" and "Germany's Nicolas Kiefer won his first career match" how wrong can they be (sorry i dunno how to post this )

Unfortunately I expected another first round lost glad I didn't watch it. To give Marat some credit, he probably didn't have much time to acclimate himself and would have been pretty tired after one week in Moscow (he's not used to that anymore )
I wish he played doubles in Madrid

I couldn't agree more...would have helped with his movement and net play which from what people said was pretty good, and would have given him extra match play. Looks like Tursunov could have done with it too. Wonder what's happened to Marat's forehand?
I thought I would be OK with the loss today since Karlovic is on a real hot streak but made the stupid, yes STUPID, mistake of looking through the General Messages forum...have made that mistake before and swore I wouldn't do it again..now feel quite depressed. Serves me right
Oh well, on to St Petersburg. Onwards and upwards as I like to hope
