STOCKHOLM, Feb 22 (Reuters) - Swedish number one Joachim Johansson has been ruled out of next weekend's Davis Cup first-round tie against France with a shoulder injury.
Captain Mats Wilander named former Australian Open champion Thomas Johansson to lead Sweden's challenge along with Robin Soderling and doubles specialist Jonas Bjorkman.
Simon Aspelin and future hope Michael Ryderstedt were also included in the squad for the March 4-6 tie in Strasbourg,
The Swedish tennis federation said in a statement that world number 11 Joachim Johansson, winner of ATP titles in Adelaide and Marseille this year, is suffering from an inflammation in his right shoulder.
Thomas Johansson reached the semi-finals in Rotterdam last week while 20-year-old Soderling triumphed in Milan earlier this month. The pair are expected to play the singles.
Bjorkman is likely to team up with Aspelin in the doubles.
Although Sweden hold a 7-4 advantage in their head-to-head meetings, France came out on top when the teams last clashed in the 1996 final.
Bjorkman is the only player still active from that tie. On that occasion, he lost the doubles with Niklas Kulti against a pairing which featured current French Davis Cup captain Guy Forget.
