Re: Joachim in Madrid

oh man...i hate it when Pim Pim loses the close matches. 7-6 (2), 6-7 (1), 7-6 (3) is just too close. the double-fault things is true . At least he can still qualify for the Masters Cup. Here's an article from the MS Madrd website:

Ljubicic out-guns Johansson in Madrid serving struggle

• Nalbandian is also in semifinals after beating Dent in straight sets
Madrid, 22th October 2004 (dpa) - Ivan Ljubicic went into the semifinal of Masters Series Madrid after beating big server Joachim Johansson by 7-6 (2), 6-7 (1) and 7-6 (3).

"As the match got close to the end, I was winning more points on his serve than he on mine. That gave me extra confidence in the last tie-breaker. He finished with a double-faults -maybe that was the trademark of our match- all or nothing.

Ljubicic, who defeated Johansson in the second round at the Athens Games, now stands 34-21 as he awaits an opponent from fourth seed David Nalbandian and American Taylor Dent.

"Playing the Hamburg (clay) semis was a much bigger surprise than this," said Ljubicic. "Everyone knows I can play well on indoor courts. I beat (Rainer) Schuettler and (Tim) Henman back-to-back. I don't see why I can't go all the way."

Johansson arrived in the quarters without having lost a set this week. The Swede remains level with Roddick for the most indoor wins this season (13) and with a ranking of 11th still has a chance to qualify for November's eight-man Masters Cup season final.

David Nalbandian is the second player in semifinals. He has beaten Taylor Dent by 7-6 (4) and 6-4 and will face tomorrow Ljubicic for a place in the final match.

Re: Joachim in Madrid

Has Pimpim lost a service game in the last two weeks? I do not think so, but both times he crashed out. That is hard luck but shows how good his own service game is!

Re: Joachim in Madrid

Pim Pim I can't believe you lost!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As rude as it sounds, it makes me mad that he can't capitalize in big opportunities like this. I mean, this was his chance since Federer and Roddick weren't playing.

OMFG... If he comes to my country...with THAT hair, I am going to give him a pair of scissors. Geeez Louise, it's getting beyond a joke, with every new picture I see I really don't want him to turn into Fernando Vicente! (btw, what happened to him? Did he retire!?)

lol
too bad he lost the game. how many TBs he had in the past one week?Maybe he wanted to win so much that it eventually became a big pressure on him.

I just hope he will play well in his homeland!
