What about 'jiu', 'liu', 'yi' and 'er'?
Liu like how the English/French speakers say Lucy Liu
'jiu' like how a French speaker would pronounce the beginning of the famous Ju jitsu martial art plus a Spanish/Italian/French etc... 'i' (='ee') in between?
I don't even want to imagine how 'yi' is pronounced before you tell me (i'm sure i've got it totally wrong...).
So what was it about the Wernigerode (spelling?) trip if you don't learn German?
