Well it's the European clay season and the big tour for Gaston begins here and he is reunited with Martin Jaite for this part of the season and Jaite knew how to hit a single hand backhand, just hope he can get Gaston to show that on court.
Good thing is that he still gets in direct to the 3 TMS events, though this is the last event, where he showed some of his good tennis.

Not the best draw If there is some chance with Tursunov, coz he's got wrist injury and never was too good on clay, then with Djoko I dont even know what to hope for... Hope they will think out something with Martín

He did it!!! 5-7 6-2 6-2
Well done Gastón!
My friend was watching and commenting for me on-line, he said Gastón did a lot of amazing shots and moved very well
So I think, next match can be interesting
iVAMOS GASTÓN!
Re: Jimmys Bar, royalty, Jardin Exotique, don't play the roulette wheel Monte Carlo Tråd
Gaston was very smart to play. He trys to move Tursonov and try that the russian doenst hit is forehand so he played a lot on Tursonov backhand.
Gaston moves very well on court

Very well done Gastón I was able to watch the 1st set and part of the 2nd one...and Gaston played very well....got little frustrated at his errors....and imo Tursunov was playing really good tennis too....

Yes, good win for Gaston. That should definitely bring some confidence back. I've seen the 3rd set only. But next is Djokovic who plays well on clay and who's been having great results lately. If Gaston makes as many errors as he did today, I'm afraid it's lost in advance. But hey, I'm glad to have seen him today, not giving up after losing the 1st set. Congrats Gaston.

I´m so happy for Gastón, and for all us fans!
:yippee: :bigclap:
I´ve taped the match so I´ll be able to see it this evening.
In the meantime I´ve been reading all the reports in the Argentine press, where Gastón´s win is coupled with Nalbandian´s and Chela´s, but even so they make a point of commenting on his game:
SportsYa: Some magic touches like we hadn´t seen in a long time, and good tennis.
TyC Sports: Gaudio played at a very good level
Infobae: Gaudio´s tennis resembled that of his good old days.
La Capital: In the second and third set Gaudio played at a very high level, showing great concentration.

Good win for Gaston. I was only following the match up until it was 5-5 in the 1st set. Next match: Djokovic... Cmon Gaston give it your best shot !!!!
Re: Jimmys Bar, royalty, Jardin Exotique, don't play the roulette wheel Monte Carlo Tråd
Gaston was fortunate to have a clay clown like Tursunov as his opponent and he was hitting some good length on his shots, but there were way too many errors from him.
The one advantage he has over Djokovic, is that he has played on the surface and it's never easy the 1st time on clay and this will be the case for Djokovic. This being said will be a very good test for Gaston.
As for not showing emotion after he won, that's understandable under the circumstances.

He's up first tomorrow on the main court, so another early morning for me to watch.
I'm not watching with expectations one way or the other. What I most hope is that, regardless of result, Gaston plays well enough that he can continue feeling like he's finally moving forward some and out of this difficult time.

Horrible match. Poor quality of both, at least of djokovic in the second set. BUT was that the new inspired and fighting gaston with a new coach I´ve been looking for? Definitely not.

It doesn't happen over night, and we're talking about a battle that's been going on for a year or so. Even though it wasn't a pretty match, he made far too many mistakes, and Djokovic's game did drop in the second set, I liked the fact that Gaston hung in to win that set (and he wasn't only benefitting from Djokovic's lower level of play, his own game came up a bit also) rather than just completely fold, when you consider how many times have we seen a repeat second set from him in these situations.
