Yes, good match from Gaston. For those who haven't been able to see it, I'd say it's been a solid match and Gaston still seems on the way to his former self. Congrats to Tim for breaking back when Gaston was serving for the match though.

Just listened to the postmatch interview. Well, Gaston said that the next match won't be easy because it's always tough to play against a friend. He insisted on the fact that he & Jose had been knowing each other since they were kids. He expects a tough match but hope he can play as good as he's played today. He also pointed out that it was the beginning of his fave part of the year, with all the upcoming events on clay. He added he'd love to play during those weeks like he did in RG 2004.....

Best of LUCK to ALL my Faves in 2015

Guess I should say well done Gastón, though in truth I don't really have the heart for celebrations seeing my poor Tim playing like that He has never played so well on clay but he was still a shadow of the guy who reached RG semis in 2004 I think it is time for him to move on to other things in his life now

That's precisely what our commentators wanted to point out during the match. Yes, that's sad for Tim....

Rosie. It must be a tough decision for a player though.

I'm very happy for Gaston though.

I was truly sorry that it had to be Henman against Gastón because I like him very much. But I differ in what a lot of you have said. Setting aside the score, I saw some great points where you could tell you were in the presence of two top players. Tim had too many UEs but he showed some beautiful shots too. I think we´ll still see him play good matches in the future, and he himself doesn´t seem to be too concerned!

Gaston played well enough to win, it was far from an excellent performance and he still has a lot of work to do between now and RG, but it's a step in the right direction.

Typical serving for a match at 40-0 and then losing serve and his next round match against Chucho won't be an easy one for him. It's not like they don't know each other's game and they get along quite well and it will be hard in this case for him, but just see what happens.

I am not going to go overboard over a 1R win.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

Gaudio vs. Acasuso is no. 4 tomorrow on court 2. I am surprised how much respect the organisers show to one of the most accomplished claycourters, a top 10 player and RG champion. Acasuso is far from unknown and can play magnificently on clay. I seriously doubt that nalby vs. seppi will be a greater claycourt match to watch ... but anyways, as long as gaston gets his W everything is all right.

The organizers have given more importance to:
First: French players
Second: Italian players and star players
Third: European players
Last: All the rest.
I suppose it makes sense from the point of view of attracting the public to see the tournament or to watch it televised...
But who cares? If Gastón plays well he´ll have the last laugh!

I know there are some Chucho fans here and I'm happy that he won a title this year and seems to be improving, but I'm cheering for Gaston tomorrow.
