Re: Will Gaston make it to Wimbledon this year?

Nope, don't count on it. If Gaston keeps on being top 10 by the time Wimbledon comes, he won't go. Remember he will play non stop in european clay. He doesn't like it there, the criteria used to make the seedings and he said it's hard to prepare well for the surface only in 2 weeks. I know for fact this, he's told me himself.
I would like him to go and win at least one point, those points can make a difference when the masters cup arrives. =O)

Hugs!
Melu.

Cheers and take care,

Re: Will Gaston make it to Wimbledon this year?

Why turn up just to get a 1 pointer and the World Cup is on this year, he is better of watching this than playing at Wimbledon.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

Re: Will Gaston make it to Wimbledon this year?

Gaston's draw:

16-Gaston Gaudio (Argentina) vs Jean-Christophe Faurel (France)
Alexander Peya (Austria) vs Irakli Labadze (Georgia)
Melle van Gemerden (Netherlands) vs Joshua Goodall (Britain)
Mardy Fish (U.S.) vs 17-Robby Ginepri (U.S.)

25-Andre Agassi (U.S.) vs Boris Pasanski (Serbia and Montenegro)
Andreas Seppi (Italy) vs Jamie Baker (Britain)
Yen-Hsun Lu (Taiwan) vs Robert Kendrick (U.S.)
Alex Bogdanovic (Britain) vs 2-Rafael Nadal (Spain)

Not many people here seem to care what Gaston does on grass
but I DO!, though not so much as in other tourneys.
Vamos Gaston!

“Todo depende de cómo me levanto”

“Hace mucho que no estoy en Wimbledon, pero voy a intentar de nuevo, estoy con ganas de probar otra vez en pasto”, asegura el actual número nueve del mundo. Y agrega: “El año pasado estaba muy cansado y esta temporada, como hice la gira más corta, tengo más tiempo para descansar. Además está el Mundial y por ahí voy a ver algún partido”. Eso sí, no se presentará en las dos semanas previas en césped, sino que irá directo a Londres.
[QUOTE]

Web-translated:
“It does a lot that I am not in Wimbledon, but I am going to try again, I am with desires to test again in pasture”, assures the present number nine of the world. And it adds: “Last year was very tired and this season, like I did the tour more cuts, I have more time to rest. Besides it is the World one and over there I am going to see some party”. That yes, himself he will not be presented in the two prior weeks in lawn, but he will go direct to London.

Belated but thanks maria87 for posting the article in our News thread:

Re: Will Gaston make it to Wimbledon this year?

Thanks María and Reiko!

Translated by a human being (i.e. myself ):

"It all depends on how I feel when I get up".

"It´s been a long time since I´ve been to Wimbledon, but I´m going to attempt it again, I feel like having a try on grass once more", the current world´s number nine affirms. And he adds: "Last year I was very tired, and this season I have more time to rest because I had a shorter tour. Besides, there´s the World Cup, and I might go to see a match or two". But he won´t be playing in the two previous weeks on grass and will go directly to London.
