Thanks for the report Choupi and it seems like that Gaston pretty much just went through the motions, as I have said before he can't gain anything from here, except match practice and maybe he had enough matches on the surface already. He wasn't good enough today and got what he deserved.

Time to focus on the event that counts.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

Good report Choupi. Even if G wasn't motivated today, it was still nice to see his lovely face again

Good luck in Paris now!

Nah...I don't think Gaston could think about missing such an event. I mean, it's a TMS, the last of the season. He's far too professional to consider not going there. He'll play. How? That's the question. In which frame of mind? Still a mystery...But you'll see it for yourself, and that's priceless.

I don't agree with you, i was there and Gaston's behaviour was unacceptable! i don't care what are these personnal problems, his job is to play tennis and i don't know what he did during the match, but it wasn't tennis
I'm very angry against him because i paid 50€ to see 1 hour of a crappy match. It's a lack of respect for his fans... he just didn't play because he didn't care. I'm not sad, i'm angry, he deserved to lose 6/0 6/0.
I have a pic for you, but i only took one because he didn't deserve i waste my time picturing him.

PS: i'm angry against him but i still love him...i need time to forgive him (for personal reasons too)

I do understand your reaction Eléa. I was pleased to see G again, since I haven't seen him on tv for ages, but I didn't like his attitude today either.

I hope he is in a better mood in Paris.

Re: Welcome to Lyon, Famous For Its Olympique Lyonnais, Its Quenelles and...Eléa!

I'm really sorry Eléa! I can understand your fillings, but it's just the way life goes. Sometime your faves play their best, sometimes dont even want to try, it happens from time to time, and I'm sure Gastón will be forgiven very soon
I was busy yesterday and came home too late to watch the whole match, but it was obvious from the very begining that our man has some plans different from keeping entertaining us on tv and live((( It's very sad, cos I didnt want him to lose to Monfils (sorry Choupi, but Gael is not my favorite)
Well, anyway good luck in Paris, dear Gato, be more focused and do your best for youself and your fans

No need to feel sorry for me Sonatinca. I also wanted Gaston to win that match, even if I like Monfils. If there's somebody to be sorry for it's Gaston because of the way he played, and Eléa because she witnessed that live...

Best of LUCK to ALL my Faves in 2015

Re: Welcome to Lyon, Famous For Its Olympique Lyonnais, Its Quenelles and...Eléa!

Sorry Elea - I hope you feel better today. And I understand exactly how you feel. Some people are very "blinkered" about their favourites, can't see that they ever do anything wrong and hate people for attacking them, - but I'm not like that at all, and I get really mad if my faves don't give 100% Seems Paris has become such a "devalued" tournament that loads of people are dropping out, but although I've heard some rumours - nothing is confirmed about Gaston, so I hope he turns up and gives his French fans something to cheer about next week.

Re: Welcome to Lyon, Famous For Its Olympique Lyonnais, Its Quenelles and...Eléa!

Hi all! I’ve been reading the comments about Gastón’s match against Monfils, here and in the Yahoo groups, and I confess I was pleased that my VCR chose that day to go on the blink, so I haven’t watched the match.
But to try to understand what happened I’ve been trying to get into Gastón’s head, an intriguing experience to say the least! And this is the sequence I come up with:

a) Gastón is tired and fed up with the tour, needs a break to recharge the batteries but knows his schedule will give him only a short holiday – not enough!
b) He really wanted to have a crack at getting into the MC, but the fact that the last three entries are decided on these courts that don’t suit him plays against him.
c) He had hoped that the miracle would happen and he’d start to play better indoors, but reality has shown him otherwise.
d) He wanted to do well in Lyon to gain momentum and confidence for Bercy, but early on in the match with Monfils when things weren’t working out he got frustrated and depressed.
e) When he’s in that negative sort of mood, he feels it’s not worth killing himself because he’ll lose anyway. But he can’t help the way he feels: he doesn’t throw the match, he just runs out of steam and plays genuinely badly.
f) Today he’s probably in a bad mood and wanting to chuck it all and take the first plane back. Or he’s laughing and pretending it’s all in the game, but he doesn’t kid himself!

Whatever we do, let's not slam him, because he's his own worst enemy!
