Re: Returning to the scene of his greatest triumph Roland Garros thread

I was following the match on the score board and was so impressed at Gaston. He fought very hard for each point....he knew he was not going to give up.

WELL DONE GASTON, enjoy your win!!!

Re: Returning to the scene of his greatest triumph Roland Garros thread

He won and that's a start and it will be difficult against an old rival and friend in Hewitt, but Gaston just to remember that fantastic day in 2004 when he gave Hewitt a lesson to which Hewitt said "God, wouldn't have beat Gaudio that day". I mean I don't expect that kind of performance, just hope he can do his best and show the tennis he can.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

Re: Returning to the scene of his greatest triumph Roland Garros thread

Unfortunatelly I have no time to translate everything I read in papers today, but one thing I should post here:

- How do you evaluate your win over Marc Gicquel?
- It's always good to win in first round any way. Everyone rates highly playing well in early rounds. I went through everything in this match: pressure, being down the score, having to come back...

- Have it encouraged you?
- I always liked to win more easely. But today I had no confidence to face any of 127 participants. And if you dont feel confident, it's harder, more nerves. But last set I played well, and I'm satisfied with it.

i will be there.

Btw, at the end of the R1 match, Gaston played just like good old days and most importantly he enjoyed being on court. See the pic sonatinca posted in pic thread - that shows Gaston's mood.

Vamos, Gaston!

Re: Returning to the scene of his greatest triumph Roland Garros thread

well, I saw the whole match on eurosport.

Gasti played the first two sets unbelievably well, I was so astonished of his performance and his manner on court. These were the best two sets I´ve seen from him in years!!

BUT then, one break in the third set (after a foot fault and a double fault) broke his confidence and he started talking to himself and his box. then things went downhill after that. he got broken early in every set and hewitt continued playing very well until the end of the match.
